Reviews
"It is in Dr. Wolf's capacity as the medical director for Marion County Behavioral Health (ABH) that I make this review. At the outset, let me begin by saying that I have not personally met Dr. Wolf, although his affect on my life has been exceedingly deleterious. I have been a patient of ABH for 5 & 1/2 months, receiving care for bipolar disorder, severe major depression, and for suicidality. Over several months I reached out several times to ABH for crisis intervention for my suicidality, but my cries for help fell on deaf ears. Sadly, on Mother's Day 2023, I attempted suicide. After my release from Salem Hospital, I was instructed immediately to contact my treating psychiatrist, Dr. Kay Dieter, at ABH. I immediately contacted Dr. Dieter for crisis intervention and emotional support. Within 24 hours, I received a telephone call from an unknown nurse at ABH informing me that Dieter was stopping all my psychiatric drugs immediately, no notice, cold turkey. By 2:00 pm that day, my pharmacy informed me that all my psychiatric medications had been canceled. No explanation was given nor did Dieter or Wolf have the professionalism to discuss the matter with me personally. Nor was I given any referrals for other psychiatrists or treatment centers in Salem. I was absolutely stunned, and went into an emotional tailspin. It took EIGHT days for me to finally receive some limited feedback from ABH about how and why this happened. This is where Dr. Wolf entered the picture. I was informed by my ABH therapist that Dieter met with Wolf in his capacity as medical director to discuss my case. I was not summoned for my input nor for Dr. Wolf to at least meet me in light of the fact that their joint decision would impact my life greatly. Their decision cut off all further psychiatric medications, effective immediately, with apparently no cognition of the destabilizing affect that drug withdrawal would have on a suicidal patient. Following the meeting between Doctors Dieter and Wolf, Dieter terminated me as a patient with no notice, no referrals. I've been a consumer of mental health services for nearly sixty years. I have never heard of such an irresponsible unprofessional decision. This behavior is known as "abandoning a patient during a critical stage of treatment." It is viewed very seriously by the Oregon Medical Board, who oversees and disciplines physicians for misconduct. The OHB informed me today that they are awaiting my complaints against Wolf and Dieter for "patient abandonment." Besides being unprofessional, Doctors Dieter and Wolf's handling of my case was just plain heartless. It demonstrates that neither place any value on my life, especially at a time when I couldn't value my own life due to mental illness. Would any physician take a diabetic or cardiac patient off of their medication in this fashion? Clearly, Wolf and Deiter's behavior shows their complete misunderstanding of mental illness. BUYER BEWARE!"
