A1 Market

"Hello! Please be aware of the A1 Market in Independence. Tonight (5/3/2023) around 9:15pm-9:30pm I went there after work. As I entered the store, the Indian man greeted me. I said hi back. He quickly then asked for my name, I replied. He repeated my name and said, “that’s a beautiful name.” I thanked him and then changed the subject and talked about looking for a specific brand of chip I promised my son I would get him for his field trip. The man kept changing the subject back on to me and saying “do you know you are so beautiful?” then said “did you know todays my birthday? I get a birthday wish. What birthday wish will you give me?” He then quickly escalated and became majorly inappropriate. So inappropriate I was saying prayers to keep me safe and I quickly checked out luckily with cash. The man kept on looking at me in the way you could tell was beyond dangerous and scary. I thought he was going to lock the door. He said so many things to me about me needing to provide him with his desired birthday wish and laughed at me. I kept professional and confident and kept talking over him. The man did not provide me with any receipt or change from my cash nor did he offer to give me my change. I am just thankful to be out of there safely. Yes-it has been reported to independence police."

"We stop here constantly for snacks and goodies because we live in the apartments. The guys who work here are awesome and if they see you regularly they go out of their way to get to know you and actually formulate a professional friendship with you. We have never had a problem here!"

"The cashier working there right now continuously disregards social distancing and masks wearing guidelines. There is no sneeze guard and it’s not the first time. I won’t be going in there again."

"I had disagreement with one of the employee in there. I was overcharge after I looked on my receipt. He change me twice for the same item that I only had one of. I told him about it, he said I can't change it after it's been charged. I said you only had one of this item and you charge me twice. I ask if he can give me my money back. He said no. I stop going to A1 Market about year ago because I was sick of getting charge 0.50 cent every time it was under $5.00 for couple of sodas. I started to take my business to Dollar General where I wasn't charge $0.50 each time if it under $5.00. So, today (Feb 21, 2020), I should have learned my lessen. I will never go back, it was a BIG MISTAKE!"
