"Oof, where to start? The service: A table that was sat almost 10 minutes after us had their order taken first. We waited 12 minutes for anyone to even come by and greet us or take our drink order. The restaurant was only 70% full. The server was unable to answer basic questions about the menu (is the teriyaki chicken white or dark meat?) nor did she offer to ask another server or the kitchen for us. Our drinks (tea & sake) arrived after our appetizer. It took 15 minutes after we finished our meal before we could flag down our server to get our bill. The food: Teriyaki chicken was cold, dry, and tough. There was barely any sauce on it which didn't help the dryness. I get that ramen is your thing, but why put something on the menu if you can't execute it well? Rice was dry and cold. Side salad was wilted and brown (see photo). Potstickers were average, ramen was decent but not the best I've had. No condiments on the tables (soy sauce, hot sauce, S&P) nor does the server ask if you'd like any of those items when the food is dropped off. Overall, a huge disappointment."
"Worst ramen I’ve probably ever had. Served raw egg in both of our dishes. Didn’t touch either bowls asked the server to please take at least one dish off, not even both. The manager refused and only took 10% off the bill. Never came over and apologized, did a table touch or anything. We work in the service industry as front and back of the house members and never experienced anything like this. Can’t believe the meal was almost $100. Absolutely never again."
"It took almost 30 minutes just to get two bowls of ramen. The broth didn’t have a full body flavor. The pork belly had the taste and texture of ham. Like it was cured with tons of sugar and salt. I won’t be looking forward to coming back."
"I've been looking forward to having a ramen place in the village for years (literally!) And was so excited when they finally opened last week. I called to make sure there were menu items that could be made gluten free (very nice staff person assured me there were) and so we planned our first of what I assumed would be many trips with my daughter and her friend for dinner. After a long wait for a table, we sat down and right away, the waiter hesitated when I asked about GF options. Soon another staff person came over and the next couple of minutes were most unpleasant. I was told that not only was there gluten in every single item on the menu, but they had no plans to offer any menu items that did not have gluten at any point. I think I croaked out a "really? Forever there will be nothing safe for me to eat here?" And got a firm, and frankly rude, affirmative response. Somehow, they seemed irritated at US when we left the restaurant. I was in shock. Nowhere in Portland have I ever been treated so rudely when asking for menu items that are safe to eat. I'm sad to say that we will not be giving them any of our business unless they have a major change of heart. I am curious if it is all allergies they are so against? I hope not, but I would definitely recommend caution given my experience there."
"we had the privilege of eating at the newest boxer ramen location in multnomah village on opening day, and it was such a lovely experience! the food overall was fabulous; the spicy red miso ramen broth was flavorful, the noodles perfectly cooked, and the smoky, crispy pork belly really pulled the whole dish together. the ahi tuna poke bento was fresh and light, and i gotta say it: the mac salad side is absolutely divine. the spicy edamame appetizer was tasty but nothing particularly unique. oh, and the sake sangria is a must-try cocktail. service was good despite the extremely busy dinner rush on opening day, staff was friendly, and the ambience was nice. having the kitchen be part of the dining experience means that there is quite a bit of noise, but that didn't bother us."
