"Bates has been a fixture at the Junction City Scandinavian festival for years. They serve up a variety of bbq sandwiches. Also available is macaroni and cheese topped with smoked meats. Their food is reasonably priced and filling. For a drink I recommend the strawberry lemonade."

"This place has amazing bbq!! It is so fresh and delicious. The Mac and Cheese was so good. They also have a resort that you can check out to camp or have a wedding. The owners and staff are so amazing and kind!!"

"My review is two-fold and that is why it is a three star. Usually I do not give 3 star reviews, I give either 4 and 5 stars, or 1 star. For Bates the exception comes only because the food was delicious but the server was an utter and complete capital B__. She was serving at the Scandinavian Festival and it was quite hot so understandably she was probably grumpy about that but that is still no excuse for her short and clearly annoyed responses toward the customers waiting for their food. Food that costed a pretty penny and people who definitely didn't anything wrong by ordering food, which is what pays her check. I will not return to Bates again to spend the amount of money spent by my party but I will also not detract from the fact that the food was delicious, and since it was not made by the woman who served it, that is why the company gets a three star as opposed to the one due to their server's rude and tactless behavior."

"My husband and I live in Salem, but were planning a wedding in Eugene. We had initially wanted to serve soft tacos at our big day but slowly turned away from the idea as it approached and fall weather took hold. It was difficult to book a caterer so close to our wedding, it was about three weeks away at that point, and we were almost laughed at by a few local caterers for our late notice. However, Bates Catering was not one of them. They were always confident and ready to help. They took our event (of 135) with ease. We gave them a final count 10 days before the wedding, they showed up an hour before serving (while it rained) and had the food displayed well when the time came. We choose the BBQ chicken, top sirloin, garlic mashed potatoes and mixed tossed salad. I was nervous, since we hadn't sampled the food before the day, but was more than happy to find out the food was delicious. All of our guests enjoyed the meal and the bridal party raved about it. As those who were served early ate, I saw the remaining guest get served steaming hot food. I was glad to see no one ate a cold meal. I would absolutely recommend to any local family and friends who needed to book a caterer for an event in the area. Thank you, Bates Catering!!"
