"Tried the shrimp basket with plantains and spicy slaw. Honestly some of the best food I’ve ever had, the seasoning, breading, and cook on the shrimp was all exceptional the slaw had the right amount of heat and the sauce they give you on the side is amazing. I also tried their chicken with Jollof rice. I recommend you pour the sauce all over the rice and chicken it definitely enhances the experience. I’ll definitely be back!! Thank you for feeding my soul."

"I ordered a pick up from here and it was nicely packaged but also wow the food was so good. I had joloff rice with the black eyed peas stew, fried plantains, and beef. The red sauce that comes with it is so delicious! Perfect compliment to the rest of the meal."

"Back before the pandemic changed everything, I worked in downtown Portland, and we hit the food carts usually at least once a week. One cart that I enjoyed on a regular basis was Black Star Grill, serving up some delicious Ghanaian food. Imagine my surprise to see it opening a takeout counter just a few blocks from my house. Finally tried it this weekend and was not disappointed. The jollof rice was amazing, as is the black-eyed pea stew, especially with some fried plantains on the side. We’re both vegans, so that’s pretty much the only options, but there are plenty of other choices for meat eaters. Great food, great prices and nice people. Looking forward to eating there again soon."
