Negociant

"If I were to - in my limited capacity as a mere mortal - design the perfect location within which to dine before seeing a movie at Portland’s own Cinema 21, I imagine it would look a LOT like Négociant. This spot is amazing! They have a wonderful variety of drinks, all that you could dream of for the creation of charcuterie boards, a fun and kind staff, AND they are right across the street from one of my favorite theatres. The atmosphere is light and well decorated and they have a variety of books and merchandise for your perusal as you dine. While I did not eat much of their food and cannot speak to its quality, I can tell you this is worth a stop regardless. And while I have spoken ad nauseam regarding Négociant’s proximity to Cinema 21, I assure you book lovers that this is a spot worth a stop regardless of the presence of a film on your calendar."

"I love this place! A friend recently took me here as it’s one of her favorite spots and as oyster enthusiasts who have tried oysters all over PDX, I believe we both agree Négotiant blows all competition out of the water. If you actually enjoy the taste of large full oysters this will be your go to place too. Service is friendly and quick. Ambiance is classy casual. Makes you feel like you’re on a French vacation and seemingly has lots of French speaking customers which I would say is another sign this place hits on authenticity. Just sad I hadn’t found it sooner."

"A nice small shop that has plenty of wine, cheeses, small snacks, and also some simple food. We came here for a quick and small snack. We ordered an Italian salami sandwich and a Bresaola salad. The salad was very refreshing, and the sandwich was good. It's a good place to come and hang out for a bit."

"An excellent restaurant on 21st. I had the ham and Brie sandwich with chips and coffee and it was very reasonably priced. Many of the other tables had glasses of wine and it is a nice and relaxing place to have a glass."
