"Was going to this gym often cuz I moved to LA at the time for semi-professional soccer, and this place was really great! They got a sauna and a whirlpool (I was going to join in but 3 big, old men were taking up the pool) + staff was very friendly. I hope I can come by here again for memory's sake."

"Needed a place to exercise while traveling for work in Shreveport, LA and found this YMCA in downtown. It is a mixed old style gym with new equipment in a beautiful old and historical building. Worth the visit and time spent here."

"I have long enjoyed the architecture of this building. I recently joined at this downtown location, as it is just a few blocks from home, and walking to and from takes care of my cardio. The swimming pool is closed at this location. If that is of consequence, there is another location in the Broadmore area, and I think another location is being planned. But the downtown neighborhood is truly blessed to have this particular gym. There are enough diverse activities here that answe to the needs of the community. It is clean. The other gym members are always considerate. The hours of operation are also an inviting perk. While this is not a 24 hr gym, it does open early and remain open late into the evening. Silver Sneakers, my insurance gym provider, is s not accepted. That's fine. I'll let that part be of use when I am away from home. Some insurance programs might be accepted."

"The most interesting YMCA ever! Historic building with endless books & crannies. Lots of separate rooms & spaces. Lots of equipment. Staff is friendly. Building is very old, beyond updating. Classes are few & all at the same time."

"This is a charming little gym. Was in town for work, the Hilton didn't have an operational gym so they had a deal with the Y so I gave it a go. When you walk in you're greeted by probably the most friendly person I have met in a long time. Invited me in. Gave me a tour. Knew everyone. Really was a gem of a person. This is an older property that's full of character. Overall it was nice but if you don't know there are rooms behind rooms then you miss a whole section, like I did. Worked out in the main cardio/machine room and was amazed they didn't have any cables, free weights, or squat machines. I went to start cardio and there was a room behind a room where it had all that. I was pretty mu h done but ended up doing a few more exercises and headed out. This place shows it age. It was warm, equipment was old, but had a great feel of one of those old school body builder gyms. Not sure when I'll be back, and not sure I'll have a free pass. But this was an interesting place that would be fun to come back to."
