"My son go’s to this school and got way more smarter than he was."
"I’m a former teacher at AG and a current Montessori mama and teacher. The teachers and staff really care for your children. They work really hard to make sure each child feels that school is a home away from home. Most educators are overworked and overwhelmed, often with limited resources, but it doesn’t show because the children are loved and that is important. I worked there from 2018-2021 with the Montessori/French dual model. The students got both in the classroom. This unique model was not successful, employee relations suffered and employee turnover was high. Leadership was not strong because it was not supported from higher up. Student behavior was at times out of control and discipline was non existent. The grounds are beautiful and they are constantly improving the space. It is on the former Gentilly Terrance school. I grew up in Gentilly and this is a highly sought out neighborhood to live in. Gentilly is nice. A number of reasons influenced my decision to leave, but the biggest was my daughter not being accepted there for PreK3 and PreK4. She was granted a seat at AG and as staff, I thought we were 1st tier privilege, being a public school that I was working at, but her number was pushed back. It’s a bad look to have your kid go to another school if you’re an educator. Most parents want to know that the school you work at is just as good for your own kid. It was about 5 staff members who kids didn’t get in as well. This put me in a bad spot to not have a spot for my own child at such a pivotal age. Especially because I was heavily recruited to work at AG for my Montessori background and the icing was that my daughter would get to come to the school. This was such a plus for me, but for 2 years in a row, our kids wasn’t granted admission. The 1st year, it was a PreK3 licensing issue and the following year they had more students with special needs than they had anticipated. And of course that means more money for the school, so they took those students over staffs children. At the start of the 3rd year I was over it and just not happy. My daughter suffered tremendously fro because I wasn’t just putting her in any school. Our principal was amazing. He was really understanding and such a great person to the students, parents, and staff. He really listen and took time to save it all and save everyone. He really helped me in the position of being a single mom with 3 kids at different ages and stages. Ultimately when he left, so did about 5 staff members- I was one. If you invest in people, they will invest in you. I was not invested into. They have a new leadership team and I don’t really know much about what’s going on there but what I hear and it’s very mixed reviews. Ultimately, I would not send my children to school there or return there if offered a position."
"Horrible. Just plain horrible. The kids there are bratty, the principal is horrible, just….never go here."
