University Lakes is a school located at 1058 Stanford Avenue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States. Our institution is dedicated to creating a more sustainable lakes system through ambitious environmental restoration efforts. These initiatives will not only enhance the ecological health of the area but also provide significant recreational value for the community of Baton Rouge.
In addition to our focus on environmental restoration, University Lakes is also committed to making improvements to May Street and the weir underneath Stanford Ave. Our goal is to create new green spaces and shorelines using dredge material, which will be landscaped to form "living shorelines" that will continue to thrive and evolve over time. These living shorelines will serve as ideal habitats for wildlife and help to mitigate runoff before it reaches the lakes.
We are excited to announce that Phase 1 construction of the University Lakes Project is currently underway, with a projected completion date of September 29, 2023. We are dedicated to moving forward with our mission to enhance the beauty and sustainability of the lakes system while providing valuable recreational opportunities for the people of Baton Rouge. Join us in our efforts to create a more vibrant and sustainable community for all.

"They are dredging and putting millions into university lakes to make it a center piece in btr. It was only 4 ft deep... they are making it real deep. With new trails and new park spaces.... Full redo. I could walk across the lake bed yesterday. So much fun."
"Quiet peaceful family friendly dog friendly great place to chill"
"Cops came to my boyfriend's truck at 11:30pm and kicked us out even though its supposedly open 24 hours. They need to update their hours on google. This was very annoying and concerning to have any cops knocking on his window. They even asked for his drivers license like they somehow thought he wasn't of driving age or was some rebel boy... It was very strange... Its an amazing lake. It has such wonderful energy at night when theirs nothing but animals and sweet nature around. We even saw a fox!!!! It only gets 3 stars due to it not being open 24 hours."
"This is a fantastically-maintained lake with clean, easy to follow paths and it's very quiet most of the way around. It's about 5 miles all the way around, so it's a fantastic walk and it's wonderful to have a beautiful lake full of turtles and even a Wild Bird Refuge in Baton Rouge. This is a gem, a beautiful and special place that is peaceful and removed from the busy-ness of the city."
"While not perfect the ride around the lake can be quite charming when traffic is light and the weather is good. Most days there are a fair number of walkers and runners. Weekends adds a number of bicyclists to the mix along with drivers who are all too often in a hurry to be elsewhere. Caution and attention are required at this of high use. Still, let us not let the perfect be the enemy of the good, yes? There are times, like the evening I wrote this review, when a ride around the Lakes is a rare and marvelous thing. You should try it for yourself."
