"Averitt is a good place to work highly recommend it. Great environment for people with great attitudes ready to work."
"I had got the job here at Averitt did everything down to ordering my uniforms and told my current employer that I was suppose to start working Monday 2-7-22 at Averitt and then I gets a call from Averitt saying they can’t proceed with the hiring process due to a Employment Termination that was over 5yrs and it wasn’t even a CDL job so why does it matter to a transportation company. So now I’m back at square one due to their hiring screening process, the way they screen Drivers will cause them to miss out on Excellent Drivers/Employees.. “Never Judge A Book By Its Cover Its Always Best To Open & Read it.."
"This is one of the more quiet yards. It's not ever really loud at night. In the people that work out of this yard or very nice and cool. In the yard is built in a very good area away from New Orleans."
"I was expecting a delivery of a 550 lb $4k kiln. All specific information was given to the kiln company before shipping requesting an appointment 2 days ahead to confirm help, and a call 1 hour ahead as the warehouse/studio building it was being delivered to has no doorbell and is not occupied 100% of the time. When I was called the day before (not 2 days before as requested) to set up an appointment, I was given a 12-2pm window and all specifics were again noted with the Averitt Express representative. On arrival 1 full hour before the appointment time without benefit of any call ahead, the driver called me and falsely claimed twice that she didn't have any of this information. NOTE: it was clearly marked on her bill of receipt that I signed on delivery a little later. I told her I could be there for 12noon, the appointment time so she left and returned. She parked (across the street from the corner of the building, 1 full block away from the delivery door which had not one but 2 curb cuts right in front of the door on a paved city street. She refused to park where every other large delivery truck has parked, saying the street was too "bumpy" to drive her lift gate cart (tiniest wheels I've seen on this type of cart) the necessary 6 feet from truck on street to the sidewalk curb. This is New Orleans. NONE of our streets are perfectly smooth. Then she refused to lower the lift gate until I had signed for the un-examined package still in the truck and until we built or came up with some kind of impromptu ramp for her to roll her cart across the corner of the sidewalk where there was no curb cut (street condition exactly the same with a 2" maximum sidewalk rise) . My helper and I had to rush around, contact the building contractor of the building and find a piece of plywood and boards to makeup the 2" difference... and then ONLY after my helper also pointed out to her that she could simply back her truck up so the ramp laid on top of the sidewalk (so the silly ramp she demanded wasn't even needed) did she agree to lower the liftgate, and only AFTER I signed for it. She complained the entire time non-stop. There was absolutely no reason for her not to have backed her truck up so the liftgate laid flat on the sidewalk to begin with as it worked perfectly despite her claims that it would not. Additionally, the driver complained that she had to wait an hour for me to arrive (when she had shown up an hour before the confirmed appointment time) and hopped back in her truck at one point and was getting ready to drive off after I explained to her that the kiln company had explicitly sent me instructions saying NOT to sign for anything until the package was thoroughly examined ON THE GROUND. She refused to lower it so I ended up riding on the liftgate to the truck bed and crawling around the 5' tall box packed tightly in with others to attempt superficial external examination. Then, because I was now fully responsible for the $4k package, I got to watch it as it sat literally teetering on the edge of a liftgate with 2 cart wheels off the edge as it was lowered to the ground. If it had fallen off THEIR truck, it would have been my responsibility. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE with this company. Company driver was not at all accommodating. I would never choose to use this delivery company and have notified the kiln company of the experience."
