"This is an active dig. The real thing! A fun gift shop and sand box for the kids to pretend they are digging for bones. The tour was perfect in length. The tour flow is great. Wait time for next tour 5-15 mins, gift shop, sand box, a 10 min walk along a path through a lush forest, tour guides are informative and humorous, ending up in an air conditioned beautiful pavilion that protects the active dig. Stunning!"
"Great and only place to see the remains of the Colombian Mammoth. The area is nice and if you come during the spring or fall you can enjoy a nice picnic. You can see the volunteers and park employees digging and carefully examining the remains of these long extinct mammals."
"We were in Waco for the weekend and this was a pleasant surprise! It’s small, but a pleasant walk from the entrance area to the dig. Rangers are well informed and the walk is easy for all as you enter the building covering the bones. It’s educational and a easy way to spend an hour Plenty of parking too"
"We spent a few hours here, it was really cool to see the mammoths and hear about the research that's currently being done. Our tour guide Milo was super kind, super knowledgeable, and was very informative about the site. You could definitely tell he enjoyed what he does and what he was talking about."
"It was awesome! A must visit at Waco. It gives us good information on the mammoths. I definitely recommend the tour as you know what you are looking at. Otherwise it might just be a bunch of bones. The guide was humorous , informative and very helpful. He explained it clearly. They also have a cute little gift shop and so many things to choose from. Just a reminder. No cafe or eatables. Definitely a great place to visit."
