"Although the loft is a nice unit , when I first did the walk through the fan was dusty , the paint job was horrible, paint spots were on the floor as if they rushed my unit to be cleaned and my cabinets were dirty in the crease. I ask maintenance if he can clean the ceiling fan and he did that. I stayed here for two months had my dog on the lease he was there for 3 days brought him back by my dad cause he wasn’t use to it . In Oct I had fleas my first week there got documentation from the vet he had no fleas and pictures and videos . They said it looked like a mosquitoes bites they weren’t ! Also said it might be from my furniture which was brand new delivered the day I moved. they bombed my apartment . I had to buy my own flea products and deep clean my entire apartment. Pest control only comes on Tuesdays . They do not spray the grass. Dec I had fleas again they were jumping on me outside I’m watching them jump on me. Sent them videos . Never in my life have I ever been bitten by fleas ! My sister stayed here a year ago she had no pets at all and had fleas in her apartment as well . Also I’ve told them about the disturbance in my ceiling they said they cannot control the raccoons running on the roof . I said they are in my ceiling day and night scratching I’m not crazy they laughed at me . Roofing people came to patch the whole on the roof and said there was rodent droppings but nothing else . I sent the videos of them trying to come through my patio ceiling. They said they would call maintenance. What does maintenance have to do with rodents ?? I lived here by myself i wasn’t getting sleep and im full time student and have a full time job. I will not pay 1000 to stay where there is flea infestation and rodents. But that was the last straw for me two months here showed me a lot why I will never recommend them or rent an apartment again . I wish I can tag these videos. I highly recommend documenting everything. Management is so in-denial when it comes to complaints to try and cover them selves and they do not fix the problem right away. ."
"I rented here for approximately 8yrs. My two bdrm started off as a nice and affordable place. Had no problems with the staff the entire duration of my stay. Office and Maintenance staff were always friendly and professional. No problems with outside traffic. Quiet and friendly community. The problem that I encountered was with the overall maintenance and upkeep of the units. There were many issues with the apt when we first moved in, they did all the repairs that their management company would allow them to do, we had to live with the other damages (there were many). Expect an increase in the rent at ever lease renewal (on average $50.00) The apt started off at roughly 830 a month, and by the time of the move, the rent had increased well over 1000 - with no renovations or refreshing or improvements to the condition of the apt. Mind you all, since moving in, the apt had endured three named hurricanes and countless severe weather events that wore the apt down. I would have continued to rent if they were willing to make the proper repairs and updates to the apartment. The move out process went well, I was charged for many things that were noted on my move in as in need of repair (8yrs prior), however - I bought the items to the attention of the office, and they were very cooperative about making the proper adjustments. Overall nice place to live, however the management company needs to invest in more repairs of the inside of the units if they are going to continue to expect people to pay what they ask for rent. Just giving lived, literal, actual, practical review of my experience with the community. As a certified property manager, I keep excellent record of communication with apt. management companies, I would strongly encourage all apartment renters to do the same. The office has a high turnaround of staff and records can often be lost or not well kept."
"I lived at shadow lake for over 10 years and there are several reasons I moved out 1) the rent increased every time i went to renew my lease 2)in order to update my apartment after living there so long I would have to pay 50.00 extra each month3) there are times I would have to call over and over to remind them that something needed to be fixed 4) I didn’t feel valued as a tenant that lived there for an extended period of time . In response to comments made by management. When I lived at shadow Lake I had possums in my apartment! Maintenance had to come and set traps. I couldn’t live in my apartment for a week and was still petrified to live in my apartment. I was told from management that my apartment was still “ live able “ and was still charged for the entire month !!!!!"
"Decent Starter Apartment Shadowlake Villas Apartments is a good place to start out renting, but not a great long-term option if possible. If you are working on the westbank, it is a good location. Close to Lapalco Blvd and Manhattan Blvd, you are not a far drive from most shopping needs and plenty of restaurants. Depending on your apartment building, parking can be limited, and the spaces are narrow. Occasionally you may not have access to a space due to how other residents have parked and will need to walk farther to access your apartment. Additionally, most buildings do not have parking spaces that directly reach the rear apartments. The access road for the complex only connects to Wall Blvd in one place and may be difficult to turn around large vehicles. Maintenance was generally responsive, with notable exceptions. While travelling one winter, I returned to find that a pipe had burst in the bathroom wall, maintenance had left dust and debris strewn around the bathroom and used one of my bathroom towels to clean up some of the water. After speaking with management, I learned the pipe had burst over a week prior, and no one notified me that repairs would be conducted while I was away. There was also confusion regarding the installed smoke alarm. When it began chirping, maintenance instructed us to change the battery even though the unit did not have one. It took close to a week for maintenance to come and replace the alarm with a new unit. If you are having packages shipped, be aware that they will be left on your stoop if they do not fit in your mail slot. Additionally, the walls and ceiling/floors are thin and you can hear and sometimes feel your neighboring apartment residents. Overall, not a bad experience, but there are things to be aware of before renting from here."
"Ugh. Believe - believe what you hear. Please believe the low reviews. For the amount of money you will pay - you are better off getting a home. I was definitely robbed of my security deposit, that’s how they make sure they are paid. The newly renovated homes are beautiful. The offices is clean, the pools aren’t always clean. The community for the most part is quiet. The surrounding fence is broke in some areas and I have seen people come through the Gated community from this broken fence which was by the way complained about on multiple occasions. One of the maintenance men broke one of items in my home, I swear it took them 7 months to give me money back. The drama of it all. Listen Shadow Lake is a beautiful community with a lot of different people in a small place. The grounds are maintained and for the most part it’s safe. But there are so many things that happened that enables me to feel invalid as a tenant there for the amount of money I paid. Between not receiving at least 1/2 of my deposit back when I take care of my living spaces, to the heater and the AC going out, to the broken fence, to my gate key not being activated. The list go on and on, they have definitely took more from me than it was worth living here. Yes - the office staff is polite. Yes- they do offer active military deals. Would I live here again? No."
