Gaslite IV Apartments

"Great place to live from 2016-2021, but for the past two years these apartments have changed property companies three or four times, each a decline in quality from the last. When I moved out two months ago there was no property manager or maintenance personnel, no one answering the office phone or responding to resident emails, no working rent portal (had to deliver rent checks through a mail slot at the office door), no working exterior lights, barely functioning washing machines, and a pool black-green with scum and trash. A new management company took over about 6 weeks ago and the exterior lights still do not work, its pitch black around the property at night. I still have not received my deposit back and at this point don't expect I will, despite leaving the property in a better state than the last owners did. Such a shame given how great the apartments/ management was 3 years ago."

"PLEASE READ!! Complex has been abandoned, remaining tenants left in squalor. The complex has become uninhabitable and many of the tenants have now left in the last few weeks. There’s constant breakins, there’s homeless people squatting in the vacant apartments after breaking in through the windows. The pool is pitch black and filled with dirty medical gloves and used needles and has been that way since last year. The owners have abandoned this complex and there’s no management anymore. The heat and AC’s don’t work and have never been fixed, I went all winter with no heat, and roof leaks. They’ve shut down the rent portal and the email and phone number no longer work. NOW the owners quit paying the electricity bill and the entire complex has been left in the dark with no electricity for the past week. The news stations have all been notified this week of the squalor the remaining tenants have been forced to live in. Whatever you do, run away from here as fast as you can."

"Not recommended. you have only one day to pay your rent otherwise late fees will be added to your account. on that day, if you are sick or busy with exams it is your fault ."

"I lived in the studio apartments for almost a year with my boyfriend and our dog while attending LSU. The managment was always nice and we never had any problems at all. All our neighbors were very quiet as most were students. While it may not be the nicest place, it had everything we needed and we liked living here. There is a pull down bed that we put up during the day, a big closet, and a built in desk and drawers in the back hallway. We even felt safe walking around the apartments at night. I would recommend living here if you're on a tight budget and don't need too much space."

"Poor management, awful maintenance, hypocrite people in charge. I have lived in Baton Rouge in several locations but GASLITE APARTMENTS was the worst one! As soon as you pay the deposit, they become completely different persons with no more smiles!!! Make sure you read the contract terms thoroughly before you sign it. You’ll not get move-in special unless you sign a 10 or 12-month lease. Actual rates are higher than what they advertise. “Free Internet & Laundry” is just a deceptive advertisement to entrap you. Soon you’ll have to drive to a laundry store if you’re gonna wash your cloths to get rid of the filthy washing machines most of which are out of service. They don’t fix them; just readily put an “Out of Order” notice on them. WiFi sucks too, do not count on the savings! The maintenance guy is the most irresponsible person I ever saw. If you ask for fixing something, it will take you ages to have it fixed only if you persist in reminding him a hundred times!!! He shamelessly lies to you and evades his responsibilities. I hope he has fixed the lock of the entrance gate that was broken before I moved in. Welcome to the bugs’ heaven!!!! The funniest part of living there is their pest control. The guy splashes a few drops of some cheap pesticide and that’s all of it!!! DON”T BE DECIEVED BY THE LOW RENT AND FREE STUFFS; NEVER GO THERE UNLESS YOU REALLY HAVE TO."
