"We saw the Preservation Brass on a Monday night get at the 7:30om show, and they were incredible! Fantastic vibe and everything you hope for in a jazz hall. Clean show, bench seating, engaging band members, fun crowd. It was wonderful! Pro tips: 1. Get there early enough to get some pizza next door at Fat Boys. 2. Use the bathroom at the restaurant before you leave, because there’s no restroom in Preservation Hall. 3. If you’ve purchased bench seats, the host has already assigned a bench for you so no need to stand in line forever before the show starts."
"If you are a jazz fan then this is a must go place in NOLA. One of the most iconic venues from the days of Billy and DeDe to now, with the likes of the hall all-stars featuring players like legendary drummer Shannon Powell, the history drips off the walls. Sure, this is something of a tourist destination but that's fine by me. It's a very small venue and has no bathroom as your told on the door. Tickets in advance is kind of a must and they also ask for contributions to local jazz charities, which is great. Small gift store too with vinyl records and other items. You can stand or get tickets for the front row - I did the latter and it was incredible."
"Huge fan of jazz and history. Was recommended to come to a show by my beloved Grandpa who is a huge jazz and NOLA fan. Venue was a lot smaller than expected and no photo/video during performances. However the show was lovely, I was smiling and dancing the whole time. The trombone player had us all cracking up the whole time. Left feeling incredibly buoyant and glad to experience the only true American art form in its purest glory."
"I booked tickets online for $50 because it was a famous jazz venue, but I didn't need to - you have to stand in line to get in anyway, and it's cheaper to buy at the door. They even let standing patrons sit if there's room, even though standing is cheap and seating is expensive. And they don't allow video recording during the show. I totally agree that a show should be enjoyed with your eyes and ears, but sometimes you might want to take a video for memories. The show wasn't bad."
