Reviews of Neyow's Creole Café
"The first thing I thought upon approaching this establishment is that it looked old and nostalgic. After making my way in, more nostalgia. Everyone was damn near sitting on top of one another because there was a close seating set up. We squeezed our way through and squeezed into our seats at the bar after about a 15 minute wait on a Monday afternoon. I ordered a blueberry mojito and a seafood platter. Both were really really tasty. However, I didn't care for the presentation of the cornbread dressing. I can tell it was "ice cream" scooped out of something and it was a bit too sweet. The macaroni and cheese was actual spaghetti pasta n cheese, not macaroni but the flavor was still there fortunately. I liked how they used cornmeal batter on my food. They got four stars because my food was not hot upon serving. I can tell it sat back there a bit too long before making its way out to me. I doubt if I go back unless they expand. I don't care to be sitting so close to other people."
"Five stars across the board! I came here with my friends for Mardi Gras and whenever I come out here I am really only excited for the food and this place delivered!! at the time we went. They were offering a buy one take one on the Bow Wow when I went but just be warned, that take one will take you! Our server was so sweet and our food runner was very handsome! The presentation of the food was amazing as well as the flavor. Everything on my salad was so crisp and you can tell it was made fresh! I would make the trip from Dallas to New Orleans just for Neyows!"
"All I can say is OMG. The char-grilled oysters was one of the tastiest things I’ve ever ate. Full of flavor and grilled so well. One of the best gumbos I’ve ate in NOLA!"
"Literally some of the best food I’ve eaten in life! The char-grilled oysters?! Ordered 6 had to get another 12. The sautéed crab claws…. Oh and PLEASE get the Neyow’s punch! We also had the fried fish and shrimp po boy. Delicious!!!! 10/10 and the prices were VERY reasonable!"
"This creole cafe is Heidi rated by the locals, it’s located near the business district, away from French, Quarter and bourbon Street, which is great. I saw someone reviewed here said , the area where this restaurant is at it’s a little sketchy, which is not true. if you are familiar with Baltimore, I will say this area is very similar to the restaurant street near the Patterson park in Baltimore. Which is very lively with many choices of restaurant in the nearby vicinity. The food here was delicious , we had some of the best gumbo; fried chicken came with well seasoned batter and very juicy inside; the barbecue shrimp sauce is very unique, buttery, and savory, with a slight taste of sourness and sweetness; the grilled fish fillet was good, but nothing special. It was fresh. As for the drinks, you have to try their signature Bow Wow drinks , I had the 14 ounce bow wow fruit punch. It was so delicious even though it’s filled with ten shots of rum, but you couldn’t even taste it, that’s how smooth it is. They also make these Bow Wow drinks with no alcohol. And choice of flavored tea are also options CJ was our waiter/bartender, service was great, prompt, attentive, and considerate. Highly recommend & It’s a thumbs up from @winedinenvacay"
