Edgewater Park
About the Business
Edgewater Park is a charming 2.8-acre linear park located on the picturesque shores of Lake Steilacoom in Lakewood, Washington. This hidden gem offers a small boat ramp and a spacious grass area, making it a popular spot for residents of the surrounding neighborhood to enjoy the beauty of the lake.
The City of Lakewood has created a master plan for the future development of Edgewater Park, with input from the public. This plan includes proposed improvements and upgrades to the park, which will be funded through grant opportunities. Despite being relatively untouched since Lakewood's incorporation in 1996, the park is set to undergo significant changes in the coming years.
In 2019, preparations began to update the park's master plan, with community outreach efforts continuing into 2024. Public meetings have been held to gather feedback from neighbors and park users, with the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board playing a key role in the decision-making process.
The advisory board is expected to present their recommendations for the draft Edgewater Park Master Plan to the Lakewood City Council in the spring of 2024. The council will then take action on the proposed updates, bringing new life to this beloved park.
With a timeline of improvements and a commitment to public engagement, Edgewater Park is on track to become an even more vibrant and inviting destination for locals and tourists alike. Visit the park and witness the beauty of Lake Steilacoom while exploring the future possibilities of this evolving outdoor space.

"Limited parking and not much space on the beach to hang out. The only thing they have for public use is a trash can."
"Neighborhood lake. No real park or beach. Very hard to find parking, no parking lot; you have to park on side of roads in the neighborhood and walk a couple blocks down to the water. A few people were enjoying the water, I think there was a rope. We never went in the water."
"Limited parking at this water’s edge spot but basically the only public access on this side of the lake at least. Paddleboarded our from here. There’s a little rope swing for the kids. Can see little fish in the water. Boat launch is small and steep but everyone seemed to be able to make it work. Lake’s great. Once in the main body of water there’s a small island to explore and then under the road bridge which gives view of rainier. Pleasant paddle even on a weekend. Boat traffic was present but not overly annoying."
"The good: Quiet, private place to hang out for a bit or launch a boat. I really liked this place, and everyone seemed to be having a really good time while being respectful and not acting crazy. The bad: If you're looking to launch a boat on a nice day, you'll probably have to wait, unless you get there early. The ugly: The parking situation is terrible. Just a bunch of private spaces next to houses with "no parking" signs, and one road of public parking that fills up fast. It's best if you can do a drop-off of your equipment or boat, and then park somewhere in walking distance."
