"Dr Mckinney not only listens but is very knowledgeable. I have been seeing an allergist since the 1980's and receiving shots. She is an excellent physician. Highly recommend!!"
"Doesn’t accept any state Medicaid when are doctors so about themselves they quit taking care of less fortunate people. My granddaughter is on state medical I am not and I would never recommend a place that doesn’t help less fortunate people in our society."
"I had a similar bad experience as the other person who posted except she informed me that I didn't have allergies to the things that give me hives, systemic edema, angioedema, and a compromised airway. Her assessment was so wrong that several weeks after I saw her I ended up in the ER in anaphylaxis, angioedema, and was admitted to the hospital with my organs shutting down and have permanent kidney damage due to the severity of the allergic reaction. Then I get a bill from the clinic she works out of only it has a different doctor's name on it...turns out she wasn't Medicare approved so the clinic billed under a different doctor so Medicare would pay them. Needless to say, I spoke with Medicare and was told this was not legal and I was NOT to pay the clinic anything until it was billed properly. She also made snide comments about male allergists in the area calling them "the good old boy network". Anyone who behaves in this fashion is not someone I would recommend."
"I whole heartedly recommend Dr. McKinney. I initially met her when my son's immune responses were getting more complex than his known allergies. She was very thorough, spent a good time getting a detailed medical history, and ordered appropriate tests to help us get to the bottom of what was going on. I also have multiple environmental allergies and, after failing allergy shots elsewhere, having chronic headaches, dizziness, urticaria, and having deterioration of my asthma, I decided to go see Dr. McKinney myself. I found out I was allergic to pretty much every food in my diet. She was able to get a treatment plan started for me that has helped me improve a lot. It is sad that someone else had such a bad experience with her, but she is definitely a gem in her specialty and I highly recommend her to others who are looking for answers to their complex medical issues. On a side note for the other gal concerned about the lab testing, immunoCAP and RAST testing (IgE and IgG) are not as sensitive or specific as skin prick testing. IgE shows antibody production, but not how severe the response when the allergen is exposed to the body. IgG can be skewed because it shows elevated levels to just about anything if someone consumes a lot of the food, or if they ate that food recently before testing. It CAN be an indicator of sensitivity, but not necessarily allergy. And beans are part of the legume family, which soy is as well, so testing for soybean in a bean allergic patient is actually good practice. I say this as an FYI, not to discount your overall experience."
"I would not recommend this doctor and here is why. I booked an appointment with Dr. McKinney based on a recommendation from a friend. I had been through a round of allergy tests 2 years ago, discovering that I'm Celiac and also allergic to various foods tied to that inflammatory response. Recently I had been having issues with my eyes swelling shut after any form of exercise. My main doctor urged me to find a specialist to help figure out what was causing this reaction. I was told to bring in any previous tests that I had had done. 2 years ago I had been tested for EIG and IGG responses and I brought in this paperwork. During our initial interview conversation I handed over my previous test results. Dr McKinney proceeded to tell me how IGG responses were not something that she recognized as 'real' and did not seem to hear my comments about how I had personally tested these items and removing them from my diet helped reduce my hives, headaches and other allergic reactions. Reactions that I'd been having daily in multiple forms at that time. Once she saw this paperwork, she seemed to stop listening to any information I tried to impart about what I was feeling, or the process that I've already been through in order to narrow down items that had been causing problems. She talked over me. Asked me if I was REALLY sure that I had had those responses to the foods on the list and then said we should do a panel. This total conversation was less than 10 minutes. Out I went to the waiting area and the assistant, who proceeded to administer a prick test of various substances on my lower arms. I asked what things were as he went. I also asked why I was being tested for wheat when I already know that I'm allergic to it. The answer given was not clear or satisfactory. I asked throughout this test and the next that would take place on my upper arms about why I was being tested for some of the things I was being tested for. Substances that I already had been tested for, had lab results for, had reactions to, etc. These questions were brushed aside. I was at the doctor's office for 3.5 hours. To have a final consult with Dr. McKinney in which she suggested that I start taking Allegra. After inquiring about the gluten content in the daily version, Dr McKinney was unsure. She asked if I couldn't just 'test is and see if I have a gluten response'. This did not leave me with any confidence that she has any idea of what Celiac Disease is or how it effects those that have it. She will send you out the door asking you to make yourself sick in order to save herself some research, a phone call to the manufacturer or knowing about the field that is her specialty. She tested me for soy. After I told her in our initial 10 minute consult that I was allergic to BEANS, but not soybeans. But that was the point where she had stopped listening to me about my own body. The cherry on top was a bill for $650. To be tested for things that I already knew I was allergic to, have no narrowing down of what was/is making my eyes swell up and being sent home with samples of a daily allergy pill that could or could not have made me sick is angering to me. Doing my own research, the Allegra is fine. I can't recommend a doctor that doesn't know about autoimmune diseases that link back to allergy responses or listen to what her patients are telling her. It took me years to find a doctor who didn't think I was crazy for experiencing my symptoms and actually look for the causes. I refuse to go back now. I hope this helps someone."
