"It was deserted the Wednesday we went. Office was closed but the trails were accessible. Trails had many roots to step around other nice. Dog friendly. Very peaceful."
"Transcendent scenery, exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly staff, and legendary history in establishing Liberty in the “battles of America “, for a new nation! A perfect site to experience! The Museum takes you through the imaginings of daily life in the Colonial period. A FANTASTIC family outing!!!"
"A little bit off the interstate but a nice stop with a lot of history This site is about 9 miles off the interstate. There is a small parking lot on both sides of the loop near the entrance to the park. There are about 40 spaces around the loop. There is a building and the hills that are all the remains of the fort. There is a lot of history to this. When I visited it was the day that the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution were reenacting the day that the American General told the British, “Take it back if you can” The staff at the park and in the building were very helpful and informed. The remains of the fort, which are just hills, are walkable and several well-done informational displays around the site explain the history and sites from the various locations. It was not hard to walk around and, since it is located right on the river, it offers beautiful views right on the water. The displays in the main building are very well done and do a good job of explaining what happened over time at this site. If you are a student of history this is a great stop for the background and the good story it tells for our war of independence."
"I think the highlight of the state park has got to be the staff. Both the girl who was there to help us understand the park and set up the movie as well as the Ranger who came in later or a pure pleasure to talk to an answered several questions we had about the surrounding area and history. There is not much left of this fort at all and I found myself far more interested in the town that rival Savannah in the early 1700s (Sunbury). The history of that city and it’s decline was totally fascinating, and I cannot believe I never knew about it. The view from the eastern end of the park is beautiful and it was definitely well manicured and an easy walk. Highly recommended. Lots of butterflies and birds all around. Great little park with tons of history. I was very impressed."
"Visiting Fort Morris is like walking through a door and stepping back in time to years long past. While it may not be a very large site, it is full of information and a worthy excursion for any history lover, particularly enthusiasts of the American Revolutionary war. The visitor's center is small with a minute but intriguing museum and gift shop. They have an interactive set-up in front of the center of 18th and 19th century games that children of that day would have passed the hours playing with. During our visit, which was to mark Independence Day, there were canon-firing and musket-firing demonstrations by volunteers in full period garb and uniforms. While there may not be much to do, it bears keeping in mind that Fort Morris is indeed a historical site and not necessarily an amusement park. If the order of the day is to learn about the area, it's history and the history of Fort Morris, then a visit to this site is a fantastic idea and a lovely way to spend a couple of hours hearing the whispers of the past."
