"I have been a client of Maggie Montgomery for almost a year, and during this time she has assisted me to find much-needed balance & perspective. She's shown a high degree of empathy, sensitivity and professionalism while assisting me to develop coping skills & heal past wounds. When I was seeking a therapist, it was important (but challenging) for me to find a therapist who has any kind of experience studying PMDD, so I have deeply appreciated her expertise. As a member of the LGBTQ community, I also needed to find someone who felt safe to discuss my relationship - and she has been a safe space for any & all concerns. As well, she has proven herself adept at discussing body image issues, disordered eating patterns, and other destructive behavior patterns. CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) is the part of our work that has made a significant difference in these destructive tendencies, though we have used many other types of tools as well. Overall, my quality of life and the communication in my marriage have notably improved, as I am developing the vocabulary to clearly articulate my needs for the first time in my life. "I once told Maggie sobbing that my wife made me afraid for my life. I'd expect a therapist to know what abuse looks and sounds like and help me realize it before it got worse (my current one did,) but she ignored that cry for help and never followed up with me about the incident. I didn't get out until others helped me see it and my wife had escalated to regular physical abuse and started a fire in our house. I don't know what a therapist is for if not to guide you in situations like this, plus she's super expensive..."
