Reviews
"After reading some reviews online, I'll admit I was skeptical going into my appointment. But I actually liked him MORE than my normal OB/GYN. Due to a scheduling conflict, I had a routine check up scheduled with Dr.Chinn instead of my normal OB. He was very patient & kind, didn't make me feel like I was just another patient he had to see. He talked to me about what I should expect for the last two months of my pregnancy. Dr.Chinn also was very helpful at explaining anything that I needed better clarification on. I was beyond satisfied with my visit today."
"Dismissed my primary complaints and concerns/reason for visit. Focused on my age and how I should start considering having kids soon, not why I was there. Did not address issue or symptoms I presented with and when I asked for test/labs to rule out pcos or endocrine issues ( family hx and i have hx of endocrine problems) he repeatedly told me it was 'just stress'. he was sure i didnt have pcos or any other complaints but refused to order labs or imaging to rule it out when i requested. Also made recommendations counterintuitive to my medical hx. Followed up with another obgyn and endocrinologist, labs he refused to check were off, endo started new meds and new obgyn diagnosed me with pcos among other things.... maybe start listening to patients..."
"I saw Dr Chinn inpatient, due to severe anemia from blood loss. During his visit to my room, prior to any testing being done, he discussed with me that he felt I should begin taking birth control, to regulate blood loss. I told him I had been diagnosed with cervical cancer twice in the past 15 years, and at 44 y/o didn’t feel this was in my best interest, as there was also a family history of estrogen receptive breast cancer, and my oncologist had advised that he believed the source of my cervical cancer may have been hormone related, and stopped me on hormones at that time. Dr Chinn’s response was essentially to call me a liar and the oncologist who treated me “misinformed”, and prescribed me a hormonal birth control anyway, prior to any testing done to determine the source of my symptom or a differential diagnosis given. I expressed my concerns about being given a hormone prior to any testing, which he blew off as skepticism on my part, and wrote in my chart notes that I had been “reading about birth control online” and that I was “concerned about weight gain” and “read that birth control causes cancer”. None of these comments ever passed my lips or was insinuated in any capacity, and mysteriously the mention of having cervical cancer in 2008 and 2010 were missing from my chart notes entirely, as well as the family history of breast cancer. He also noted that I am diabetic in error, due to not properly reviewing that the reason I was taking a specific medication was for off brand use and was not to control blood sugars but to alleviate symptoms of PCOS! I am neither diabetic or pre-diabetic, which could’ve easily been seen by my blood work on intake along with my medication list, which noted what each Rx was prescribed for and was missing Insulin, since I neither use it or need it. I had to fight to get the nurses not to give me insulin after meals as a result of this mistake, when simple attention to detail could’ve avoided this happening altogether. It was hell just to get these notes removed and corrected in my charts, due to his lack of attention. He additionally belittled me for my concern with his approach, which I found disturbing, considering my concerns were based on facts and prior diagnosis, as well as family history, which he showed no concern for. I was then seen by a different colleague of his, who read the results of my testing to determine that the medication he had prescribed would’ve had zero benefit given my diagnosis. I feel that Dr Chinn has a very poor bedside manner and irresponsibly prescribed medication without a diagnosis prior, and habitually disregards patient concerns. I will not be seeing him again, and would strongly advise anyone who is considering seeking out his care to look elsewhere. I do not trust or value his approach and do not appreciate his condescending tone and disregard for valid concerns, that impact the health of the very patients who are there to seek his care and knowledge. He failed this patient for sure."
