"I should have listened to the reviews before renting here. Samantha and Lori are nice, however, they are more interested in keeping their homeowners happy versus their renters. I would not have had much bad to say except that they charged us to replace the carpet after we left when the carpet was in bad shape before we even moved in to begin with. It was old carpet and just needed to be replaced in general which should have been at the expense of the homeowner, not the renter. I do not recommend renting from the Yelm office."
"DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!! Especially not any address on McCorkle Rd owned by John Crane and managed by Lori Delong! They will steal your money by charging you to replace things in the house that weren't even there or were already broken when you moved in! Lori Delong is especially rude, dismissive, unhelpful, and uncaring about anything that you tell her. Even when you show proof. When we moved into the house we rented from them off of McCorkle Rd in Olympia last December, we were greeted with a home that did not even have working heat. We placed numerous work orders weekly and did not have someone come out to fix the issues until early January. We were forced to live in a freezing cold home in midwinter with no heat and we were never compensated for that trouble. Under the sink, we also had a pipe that had been chewed through by rats so whenever we did our dishes, the kitchen started to flood. This took them weeks to come fix as well. Add in the middle of summer in July and August, we had to go without water for 3 days each month because a pipe broke for the well and the property owner, John Crane, did not get any one out to fix it for days. My girlfriend and I had to drive 35 minutes just to shower at her moms house after we worked 10-12 hour days. We couldn't even afford to get water for us to drink at the time and we could do dishes or even cook in our home. We had to ask our family for money just to get water for our dog! Our front porch had a huge spot of wood rot by the top step that almost caved in on us multiple times, and it took them 3 weeks and multiple work orders to even get it "fixed". The entire porch was rotting, but their solution was just cutting out the worst section and replacing it with a bit of plywood. The property owner had the audacity to call us and ask if we were happy with the solution! Every encounter with John was followed up with rude remarks, insulting comments, and aggressive tones. Upon our moveout, Lori and John tried to charge us for six sets of blinds and $100 of cleaning. When we moved into the home, it only had 4 sets of blinds in good condition, with one already broken and one already missing. These were both on our move in inspection that they had! Lori reluctantly said she would refund us for both blinds. She only ended up refunding us for one! We also spent an entire day cleaning the small 800 square foot building with six people leaving the home spotless and they charged us $100 for cleaning! The home wasn't even cleaned prior to our move in! Again, Lori reluctantly gave us a meager $40 back from this charge. Our last month at the home we were left without a mailbox because a drive hit it. The driver offered to pay for the replacement, but John expected us as renters to replace it! He seems to forgot or just picks and chooses what he wants to fix on an owner maintained property. At the end of the day, renting from Hometown property management was the worst experience of our lives. They have no customer service skills, no professionalism, and they will go out of their way to make your experience living with them an absolute nightmare. They rent out properties owner by slum lords who will just mark your service requests as completed, or just cancel them outright without even fixing the problem or making an attempt to contact you over them. They will steal your money, and treat you like garbage."
"Lori in the Yelm office took care of everything during the 4 years she managed our property. When our fist tenants left, they quickly found a new tenant. We are happy that we chose Hometown to manage our property."
"If I could give zero stars I would. The Yelm office manager is SUPER rude. Lorie, I believe is how it’s spelled. We originally rented from the actual homeowner and then she gave it to hometown in February. They flat out refuse to fix structural problems with the house. Like the fact that it’s rotting away on the outside because there are no gutters, or that we have a leak upstairs and it’s ruining the floor in the bathroom... She also is horrible at communicating with us. All of a sudden we have a bill for a new propane tank that was filled without our knowledge or approval. When I called the propane company they said that Lorie has authorized the fill up. We weren’t even home at the time. I called a realtor friend and they said that that is a HUGE no-no, especially since we didn’t sign anything or agree upon anything and to get a lawyer. There is so much stuff they try to pull. It’s outrageous. Do not rent from them if you can avoid it..."
"Lorie is by far the rudest, nastiest most disrespectful person I've ever been cursed to work with! From day 1 she was nothing but rude and condescending. And we moved from another Hometown Property home... You would think based on our exceptional rental history with the company they would treat us a little better. We moved into a home that is a standard tract home in a mediocre subdivision. It was advertised as having a hot tub. I specifically asked if the hot tub worked and they assured us that they did. We paid to have some one come out and clean it (it was disgusting) and set it up and of course it didn't work. Not even a little bit. When I called to question this I was told that the owner said she was actually planning to haul it away before renting but decided not to. I assume so she can scam people into thinking she had a working hot tub at her rental. This was a VERY frustrating discovery and rather than trying to diffuse the situation and help me feel better about over paying for a house in YELM (BFE) that doesn't have a working hot tub as it was advertised she chose to be combative and tell me that rent isn't based on whether a home had a hot tub and this is such a high caliber home (it's not). Yet the entire time she was doing the move in inspection she continually pointed out things in the home that annoyed her but yet I should be fine with it. I'm a VERY detailed person and I think it was just way too much for her to have to deal with all the issues the home had (including being filthy) at move in."
