"I witness 2 cases of neglect and abuse of residents, and a manager being verbally abusive to kitchen staff. 3rd abuse situation all in one day. I had already reported the other two abuse/neglect cases to the Director manager by a CNA in which the manager replied” oh I have worked with her in other nursing homes and The CNA is just that way “ I was verbally abused by the CNA as a guest. I told the Director of Nursing May 2023 and I know those staff remain. What does this tell you about this place? Yes I hope a lot about what they allow and do not handle. God bless the patients here and the many who complained to me as a bystander about conditions. They are understaffed and managers do not care and are very disconnected."
"My father came here for rehab after breaking his hip. They did nothing for him other then having him ride a recumbent bike 20 minutes a day. He was completely incontinent and never told our family when he was released to go home. He was better off getting the PT at the hospital. Very poor communication with the families of the loved ones there. My father was in worse shape when he left this place. Food was bad too!"
"The trauma of having a loved one enter a SNF can be overwhelming, especially when you realize that you have zero influence or control over the ‘system’ of health providers and health insurers. The patient and family are simply caught as chess pawns in the middle. The team at Mother Joseph demonstrated utmost patience, care and support as we navigated new waters unexpected when our ‘young Mom’ had a stroke at 73. Kyra, Ali, Amanda, the incredible CNA’s, Dennis, Keith, Hannah and Chrissy from Therapy all rallied to help Mom regain as much as she could in skills. And they handled us... daughters that just wanted the best care from the best place we could find for Mom. My only complaint is with one person in the Social Work team who could stir the pot rather than settle it down. If you work with that team...just request Rita be your Social Services assignee."
"Was visiting. The bad side: The only thing I smelled was pee on the initial visit. The Good: He liked the staff/nurses. Enjoyed rehab and therapists. He received a menu each day so he had some choices. He also like they gave him a headset for tv so not to bother other man in the room. Noticed they have private and two person rooms."
"I would give no stars if it let me. My father was sent here for rehab last month. We initially had a care meeting to discuss the goals to get him home and we all agreed that with the circumstances, he wasn't to be discharged until he can be mostly independent. 20 days later, he was being discharged. Medicare will only pay for 20 days, but the letter we received was that Medicare will pay the 20 days, but after that, it is the patient's responsibility. He wasn't ready. The discharge was hurried, no patient teaching and he was out the door. While trying to get into the car, he stood up and passed out. He literally fell right outside their entrance, falling hard onto his bottom, with me guiding him down so he wouldn't hit his head. The CNA went to get help and it took 4 people to pick him up and put him in the wheelchair (he's a big guy). They take him in to be assessed, and no joke, 5 minutes later say he's fine and ready to go. Does that sound like someone who is mostly independent? I knew he had some dizzy spells, but when I got him home, he passed out again. I call them and they told me to just take it slow and that if I didn't feel it was safe, then he should go to the ER. Seriously?! Good thing I intervened and he didn't fall at home being "independent." How could they send him home like that?! And certainly with no plan in place other than home health will call in the next day or so. Rehab was a joke and consisted of 20 minutes of riding a recumbent bike a day, maybe twice a day, and walking to and from the PT room. That's it. I am beyond frustrated and angry, and will definitely lodge a formal complaint."
