"Nice it's in the neighborhood. Not the best site to see, but it is interesting. In the summer they have a vegetable stand on the weekend."
"4/20/2019 was living history day. Amazing restoration of this historical home."
"There are so many activities at The Speakers House throughout the year that you will find something to snag your interest. One of my favorites is summertime when the historic kitchen garden and all of its bounties are available to buy. The archaeological field school is so interesting to stop by and see what the students have uncovered helping to tell the story if this remarkable place!"
"The Speaker's House is a fun, work-in-progress, landmark located in Historic Trappe Pennsylvania. It showcases the home of Frederick Muhlenberg who was the first speaker of the house. While the house itself has seen a great many changes and remodeling over the years, The Speaker's House team of volunteers are working to restore the house to its glory days of the early to mid 1700's. The house also hosts a German kitchen garden where you can visit during the summertime on Saturdays and purchase organic, heirloom produce freshly picked that day. Throughout the year, there are also family-friendly events that take place, along with hands-on opportunities for just about everyone. You can visit the house and receive a tour by appointment as well and experience the progress of the house's restoration."
"Cool piece of history right here in the Perkiomen Valley. Frederick Muhlenberg, the first Speaker of the House, and the first signer of the Bill of Rights (John Adams was the close second) lived here. There has been an amazing historical restoration going on here for several years, and the house exterior has been transformed into what it was like in the late 1700's. Interior work is ongoing, as are the archaeological surveys that take place for several weeks very summer. It has been great to witness the incredible progress that is being made. Lots of historical buildings on Main Street in Trappe - The restored Henry Muhlenberg house (Frederick's father) built in 1750 is a few doors up the street, and just a little further is the Augustus Lutheran church, which is virtually unchanged from when it was built in 1743."
