"Great location for exploring Mount St. Helens. The motel is clean and affordable, just what you'd want for a comfortable night of sleep. They were accommodating with our extra vehicle parking there two days prior to our stay and the owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. Also, the restaurant across the parking lot was great after a long day at the mountain!"

"Speaking to Ms Ellen is in my opinion just as important as seeing the mountain. Wonderful service, amazing attitude, clean rooms and great price. Small town atmosphere where everybody knows everybody and in an extremely safe and friendly area. Highly recommend... and free donuts! EDIT: Even a day after checking out I'm reading the reviews about sweet Ms Ellen to make sure everyone else appreciates the love she pours into that motel and everyone who stays there."

"Where do I begin... My wife and found this place while eating dinner across the street. We were headed from Portland to Olympia, but decided we'd rather get some rest after a long day. When I travel, I always try to read reviews of the places I go beforehand so I have an idea what to expect. I'd read another review on Mt. St. Helens Motel and the reviewer mentioned the owner of this establishment (Ellen) had lived through the Mt St Helens eruption and had some good stories to share with her patrons. We were greeted by Ellen when we checked in and I decided to strike up a conversation with her. I told her that I'd read another review of her motel and they mentioned to ask her about her experience and the history of the town. Ellen was simply a wonderful host and shared with us many stories and tons of information about Castle Rock. We really enjoyed our stay and Ellen made us feel at home there. Our rooms were comfortable and very clean. The bed was great, the shower had good water pressure and was hot. Ellen offers coffee, donuts and pastries for breakfast every morning. It was a pleasure staying at Mt St Helens Motel and we're already planning another trip back to visit with Ellen again. This place is a gem folks and so is it's proprietor Ellen."

"My husband and I stayed for just one night to explore the Mt St Helen’s area. We were delighted with our stay. This quaint, retro-style motel is exceptionally clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced. But the real treasure here is the personal touch that the owners provide. From the donuts and coffee in the lobby to the friendly woman at the front desk (one of the owners) we were well cared for. The owner went out of her way to be accommodating. She was so kind and thoughtful and a great storyteller. She graciously answered all our questions and we learned more about the history of the area and the mountain’s eruption than you could ever learn from a guidebook or even a trip to the monument. She provided the authentic, hometown perspective of someone who actually lived through the eruption and her tales were fascinating, funny, and much appreciated! Highly recommend a stay at this motel!"
