"I've been seeing the doctor for a little while now as has my husband. She has been nothing but kind and thorough even on the day when I accidentally show up late. I'd had some chronic issues that I had been to multiple doctors for diagnosis and they're only solution was to put me on birth control pills. Her exam she identified the issue immediately and got me the treatment I needed and I haven't had a problem with it since. The issue I'd been struggling with for years is no longer an issue and I did not have to get on birth control pills. For people complaining that she highlights or discusses them being overweight, I question their truthfulness with their selves. Let's be honest, we all know being overweight causes health issues, a lot of health issues. I don't want a doctor that's just going to give me a pill. I want and appreciate that she gives me the insight I need to heal naturally. She has been nothing but supportive and has given me the tools and information I need to make changes in my life to live healthier and happier. Sometimes it's incremental steps and sometimes it requires medication but I've never had a rude moment with her."

"Please, please, listen when people say there's a real reason for so many negative reviews. I have finally decided to speak up because this woman should NOT be allowed to practice as a doctor. She will not listen to your health concerns, even if the meds she prescribed are causing them. I have never met a more unprofessional doctor in my entire life. She had prescribed me 2 different antidepressants, as well as an anti anxiety medicine at the same time after I had complained about anxiety. I had never taken such medications and I figured she knew what she was doing, so I went with it. Over the next 6 months I complained about severe side effects and felt that they far outweighed any benefits I might receive from these medications. I have since been told by several doctors that the particular combination of drugs she gave me is pretty bad. This woman refused to listen to my concerns, waiving off the long list of side effects that were ruining my life for months! I got to the point where I felt the only option for me was to cut myself off cold turkey. I had no idea how difficult this can be on your body, but I felt that my health was in jeopardy. I tried to explain my decision to this doctor and how I felt I wasn't listened to. I was scolded like a child by this woman as she struggled to keep her voice at a normal volume. She is a horrible human. This whole situation could have been avoided completely had this woman decided listen to her patient!! Her ego is far beyond that though. Years later I still refer to this experience as one of the worst medical experiences in my life. Hope you retire soon Joanne, or even better lose your license to practice!"

"I spent a very long time looking for a female doctor for my teenage daughter. Finally after a lot of searching I found Dr. Mayhew, she is someone my daughter listens to and respects and has had a huge positive affect on her since. Dr. Mayhew is an excellent doctor, very caring, she does not hesitate to give it to you straight. I ended up going to her as well, and had spent years going from doctor to doctor trying to find a solution to my stomach issues. She referred me out to my 6th G.I. who for the first time in over a decade has put me back on the path to happy and healthy. I have spent most of my adult life going from doctor to doctor with little to no success. Spent thousands on procedures and tests after test to no avail. Dr. Mayhew has my deepest respects and I would recommend her to anyone. These 1 star reviews are an interesting read, but nothing more. Like I said she gives it to you straight. If you are sensitive and offended by the truth then she may not be the doctor for you. But if you want a doctor that cares and is interested in your health and success. Search no further."

"20 years ago I had a great doctor that saw me and my children for over 15 years. Loved her. She quit practicing in 1995 (said she could not practice good medicine in an HMO) and since then, I've had over a dozen different doctors who never spent more than 10 minutes with me and it was obvious that my overall health was not a concern. Just wanted me to tell them my problem so they could prescribe a drug and get on to the next "patient". So it was a pleasant surprise that my first visit with Dr. Mayhew was 45 minutes and included a thorough exam, including questions about my diet, exercise, personal life...all the stuff that affects my health. She ordered blood work and pointed out I was past due on my tetanus shot. A few weeks later, her office called to schedule a follow-up visit. It is with great relief that I have a doctor who actually cares, who takes time to understand me as a whole person, and who doesn't see drugs as the solution to every medical problem. I am thrilled to have found Dr. Mayhew."
