"I walk in, mouth agape. Next thing I know, a Yuma Myotis is headed straight for my face. Before I can react, a Mexican free-tailed swoops from the left, going for my eyes. Both bats are clearly being controlled by employees of this store. I miraculously escape serious injury when, just as I think the assault is over, an aluminum little league heads straight for my abdomen. I keel over in pain, the air expelled from my lungs. As soon as I catch my breath, I look up to see an Ace Hardware employee staring down at me condescendingly, head shaking and finger pointing to a sign that reads, “Masks Required.” I can’t help but laugh. Not only am I an animal lover, but I can’t get enough of a good practical joke — especially in today’s society! This place gets two thumbs up from me. I’ll be back next time I’m in need of some old-fashioned fun!"
