"Very lovely experience. First come first serve spot. We were called back very promptly and sat at the bar. The bartender Devin knew it all about the dishes and had some fun notes about the bathroom decor. The red sauce homemade pasta was amazing and the calamari was perfect. We highly recommend. "Sophisticated Italian comfort food, beyond generous portions, excellent service, warm neighborhood vibe. Explore the menu by sharing. The four of us split a ton of food, starting with the mountainous arugula salad (one of the best I’ve ever had), yummy fried mozzarella (that is definitely not your stereotypical sticks of cheese), focaccia, and a lovely pear Gorgonzola bruschetta. We then dived into the comforting embrace of Gabbiano’s spaghetti and meatballs, a crispy golden pile of chicken parm, and tender black cod. Though we felt stuffed, we couldn’t say no to the top-notch tiramisu (it’s not too sweet) and apple olive oil cake. The little unexpected flower garnishes add a festive touch. There was line out the door on a Tuesday night. Its popularity makes for a vibrant neighborhood scene that still lets enjoy your dinner conversation without shouting."

"Gabbianos is my favorite restaurant in Portland. Period. They’ve got rotating, seasonal dishes, which will always blow your mind, but the staples like fried mozzarella and the spaghetti meatballs are always so freaking good. On top of that the service there is so good and thoughtful and I always enjoy the decor, especially the seagulls. Cocktails and drinks are always on point too, love the espresso martini and the slushy drink."

"Comforting Italian American dishes with decent portions and dim/cozy vibes. Walk in only. Not too bad of a wait around 5-6pm Friday. Quickly filled up after. We took the tiramisu to go for later and that was an absolute delight. - Caesar Salad 4/5. Massive for two people if you're sharing other apps as well. Nicely dressed and not overly heavy. - fried mozzarella 3/5. Marinara was good and I usually can't say no to fried cheese. Minus stars cause the center/bottom was still ice cold! - fried calamari 5/5. Nicely fried and exactly what you'd be looking for in this type of dish. Sauce/aioli was light and paired well. Wish it came with some of that tasty marinara. - spaghetti and meatballs 4/5. Tasty red sauce and exactly what you'd want for some comforting Italian American pasta. Meatballs were well seasoned but minus a star for being dry."
