High Bridge Wind River Highway, Carson, WA 98610

"My family had lived in Carson since the early 1900's right next to the bridge. When my mom was growing up in the 30's/40's it was a swinging bridge. From what I understand, it was quite scary when logging trucks crossed, especially when those Gorge winds were gusting. It's 180 ft. down to the beautiful Wind River. If you are prone to vertigo, I don't recommend looking down."

"When I woke up this morning with Internet so limited I couldn’t go on any social media apps and was forced to satiate my screen addiction via Google Maps, I did not expect to come across a 5 star bridge (and certainly not one so close by). Suffice to say my curiosity was piqued and it was the first thing we went to experience this fine morning. This bridge is such a good bridge, I didn’t even realize we were on a bridge while driving over it- I thought we were still just on a regular road. A real engineering marvel."

"This bridge crosses over a major gorge on the Wind River. When crossing this 2-lane bridge by car, it impossible to see anything over the side of the bridge rail except trees. PLEASE NOTE: While there is a place to park on a service road on the north western end of the bridge, the bridge does not have a pedestrian sidewalk, however, with care during daylight hours it is possible for adults to walk (using extreme caution) onto the bridge staying as close as possible to the railing on the west side for best views. Fast moving traffic will likely see you, but a bright colored shirt or vest is recommended for additional safety. Parking is at the north west beyond the bridge The scenes of the river, and the gorge several hundred feet below are simply spectacular."
