"Busy place witch is understandable since they have live bands that are drawing crowd. Food is great and fresh, and the service is good on a very tight and crowded room. Reasonable prices and good beer selection. Highly recommend if you like live music..."
"We've been coming here forever, but today was the first time since Covid. Place is still great and the service was awesome. It was busy, but the server did an excellent job handling all the tables. I had the fish and chips, it was good. Really like the skinny fries also, yummy. Parking can be an issue, but oh well.."
"The Spar is a tavern steeped in Tacoma history. They serve quality pub food. Really good salads, burgers and sandwiches. HOWEVER…I want thank the owners of this historic tavern for continuing to present great live music. We’ve been to many of their live music nights and they have ALWAYS wowed us. Great music, great space, no cover, good food, friendly staff. Tacoma is very fortunate to have a place like the Spar. If we were at a tavern in NYC with jazz band like we heard tonight there would have been a line out the door and a $30 cover. This is a good place Tacoma. Check it out."
"Greeted right away. Kind of a dive bar/Cafe with a great view. Best House made chips I have ever had. Halibut was meaty and fresh, Not over seasoned. Price was not bad at all. Would be a regular here if I lived locally."
"I’ve been by this place so many times but never stopped in. Decided to give it a try and it was way bigger than it looked from the outside. We sat in the back and had a great view of the water. It was mid afternoon and busy. We got there right when they were setting up for a band. Food was pretty good. We got the cheese curds which were delicious, they were served with some cheesy garlic marinara. They’d be good with a jalapeño jelly too. Then we ordered a burger, French dip, and fish and chips. Everything was good but my fish and chips had a lot of breading on them. And the fish was a little tough. Overall we had a good time, the server was super nice and friendly. Came over a bunch of times to update us on our food and apologized for any delays. We will come back!"
