"If I could give this place zero stars I would. The owner jumped to conclusions, verbally abused me, and threatened me. I stopped this morning to get gas. I put my credit card into slot at the pump and pulled it out. The machine then told me to lift the nozzle and select my fuel. My son lifted the nozzle, inserted it into the car and I pressed “regular”. The gas began to pump. While that was happening I walked across the parking lot to the only garbage can and threw away an aluminum can. I then walked back to my car and cleaned the inside of my windshield. When the gas stopped pumping my son put the nozzle away. We got in the car and drove away to a local coffee stand. A few seconds after we arrived at the coffee stand an older gentleman showed up and said I didn’t pay for my gas. I told him I did. He said that Bruce, the owner was upset and said I didn’t pay. I immediately drove back to the gas station where I was confronted by Bruce. He yelled at me and said I didn’t pay. He said I didn’t swipe my card and that I stole gas and ran away. I tried to explain to him that I did not steal from him, and that I would never do that. I told him that if my card wasn’t charged I would pay for the gas. He continued to yell at me and call me a thief. He told me never to come back to his store again. He repeatedly said I never swiped my card. He continued to yell about me driving off, and told me he already called the police on me. I paid for the $35 of gas I pumped. After I left I checked my bank statement and it showed a $1.00 charge, and reversal of $1.00 time stamped ten minutes prior to me coming back to the gas station and running my card again (also time stamped on my receipt). I have proof I swiped my card, because that is what gas stations do to ensure the card is legit before they authorize you to pump gas. Some facts: The gas at this station is pre-pay. I ran my card at the pump. The system told me to lift the nozzle and pick my fuel type. I did that. Why was I authorized to pump gas? I didn’t do anything different than what I usually do when I pump gas. And even if something went sideways in the system, that’s not my fault and I came back to learn what the problem was and make it right. I also called the Elma Police Station and talked to Officer Wheeler. He said no one called the police, and I didn’t commit a crime. Again, Bruce alleged he called the police on me while I was standing there trying to figure out what the problem was. He was just being plain mean and unreasonable and trying to scare me. Moral of the story: Bruce apparently doesn’t know the difference between a thief and a neighbor who lives down the street, who came back to find out what the problem was and make it right. He verbally abused me to the point I was in tears and I did nothing wrong. There are plenty of places to get gas in Elma, and I have frequently stopped here to get gas because it is a small business, and I thought I was contributing to a local family. As a matter of fact years ago I worked with Bruce at his sister’s Restaurant in Elma. I even tried to tell him I’m not what he said I am and that I used to work with him and I know his sister. He didn’t care. He just kept screaming at me like I deserved to be persecuted. I will never shop at the Elma Texaco on Main Street for anything (aka Mini Mall), and I would encourage others to give their business elsewhere. Bruce assumed the worst, was verbally abusive, and and he lied about calling the police to make me feel threatened. Consider whether that is behavior you condone in a business and choose accordingly."
