"First time in a couple of years I've been to a Panera Bread Restaurant. Now I remember why.... poor service and even worse food! Especially for the price. I had a 1/2 Smokehouse BBQ Chicken. Flavor way ok... the size of the sandwich was ridiculous, especiallythe poison size of the chicken....$9.29 WOW! SO EXPENSIVE! I also asked for horseradish to be added...I even asked if it was placed on the sandwich...I didn't taste any!"
"We get 13 bagles every Tuesday, prepaid. I went in today to pickup my order and they had given it away to someone else. They did not have what I had ordered left on the shelf. They said they could replace my order tomorrow. I told them that would be fine. They called me about 10 minutes later to tell me they could not give me 13 eagles on Wednesday because that was a Tuesday special. I told them I did order on Tuesday and went to pick up on Tuesday but they gave it away on Tuesday after I paid for them and had a receipt for my order. They refused to honor my order. They said they couldn't give me the special on Wednesday. I told them since I already pay for them, they could just put 13 in a bag and call it good. They refused. So they got paid double for those bagles. This ridiculous phone call lasted over 1/2 hour with no resolution. This Panera Bread on Glen Widing Drive has terrible customer service. Avoid if you can."
"Panera is my go-to restaurant for travel. I'm in Portland for the weekend staying near the airport, so we had dinner at this Panera. They were out of both bread bowls and bread sides, disappointing my daughter. She and I both had my usual order - mac 'n' cheese and a small tomato soup. This order, with no beverages, cost us about $28. Usually, I really enjoy Panera mac 'n' cheese, but tonight, it was unevenly warmed and generally cold. The whole meal was not great. There was no one at the front taking orders, so we had to order on the computers. Also, they were out of both toilet paper and paper towels to dry your hands in the bathroom. Overall, a mediocre experience."
"Some of the worst service I've ever seen in any business. There was no one at the registers when I entered, and despite knowing I was there and waiting for service the staff in the back continued to stand around and chat loudly with each other about their relationships. I eventually gave up and used the self-service tablet (which I'm guessing was their aim). The food quality here is slightly below average for Panera, which is unsurprising considering most items appear to be just pulled pre-prepared from a cooler and set on a plate. The "seasonal fruit" I upgraded my side to, however, was especially disappointing; for an additional $3 I got two (2) grapes, a few old melon chunks and a single small piece of pineapple. The feeling I had of being so scammed was more palpable than the fruit itself. My assumption is that the franchisees here know that they have a somewhat captive audience among the nearby airport hotels and thus have no desire to provide more than the bare minimum. Not a good look for Panera."
"I ordered a green goddess caprese baguette. I got a green goddess salad. $11.99 for a half salad that I didn't want, and a bag of chips seems like a ridiculous price. Also, "green goddess" food items are usually vegetarian, which is why I ordered the sandwich. The green goddess salad has bacon and chicken, which I don't eat. I don't blame the person who helped me as it was in the drive through and a reasonable mix up. But I do feel that Panera should take a hard look at both their pricing and their naming of menu items. I could have gotten that same salad at Fred Meyer for half the price. I know there's a convenience factor here, but seriously. This was not $11.99 worth of food."
