"I am appalled at how customers are treated in the pharmacy. I will NEVER go back. I Sat and watched them interact w/ numerous customers. Unfriendly, scowling faces, abrupt, " I couldn't care less about you" attitude. I thought it was just one person's attitude when I first went in. But when I went back later it was the same attitude with 2 other people. Messy counter, open coke bottle sitting by the register, my instructions from the pharmacist was "take this twice a day every 12 hours for 5 days". And essentially tossed it on the counter and walked away. New med I've never taken. WOW. You've got major problems behind that counter!"
"This pharmacy is the bane of my existence. They are unable to reliably fill my medication on time or without me having to show up in person to ask about the delay. Online statuses remain inaccurate, phone calls are unanswered, and there’s no explanation for why it is a struggle to get my medication every month. It wouldn’t be such a big deal if it wasn’t, you know, my health being affected."
"One member of the staff, an older woman who I overheard saying she used to live in San Francisco was extremely rude. She said "I don't know if you're married, but if you are your husband..." to another patron, which these days is assuming a lot. She repeatedly referred to me as "he", despite the fact that I have long hair, obvious breasts, and was dressed in a way that wasn't remotely masculine. When I called her out on it, she refused to apologize, making it clear it was deliberate."
"Traveling through Astoria for an event, three of us visited this store on Friday, May 26 because a member of our group had forgotten her insulin and we had already struck out at the independent pharmacy in town. The workers at the Walgreens pharmacy counter ignored and avoided eye contact with her, and when she was eventually acknowledged by the pharmacist, he responded to her with disgust and closed for lunch, refusing service for a woman in increasingly urgent need of insulin. It is my opinion that she was treated this way because of her race. After it became clear that service was being denied to her in this way, we returned nearly $100 worth of merchandise to the shelves and continued down the road to Rite Aid, who happily communicated with her pharmacist and solved the problem effectively even though it was the end of the business day at home in Detroit. Had Rite Aid not come through on this problem, we would have had to drive towards Seattle overnight and miss our event."
