The PQ Water Tower San Diego, CA 92129
About the Business
The PQ Water Tower, located in San Diego, California, is a park showcasing water towers from around the world - monuments to old technology related to water supply. Water towers are structures designed to regulate water pressure and control the flow of water in hydraulic systems. The tower operates based on the principles of physics, with water being pumped from a reservoir to a tank at the top of the tower, then distributed through pipes to consumers. Water towers also act as water reserves during peak water intake periods. In the past, water towers were essential for delivering water to upper floors of buildings and providing hot water. The construction of water towers dates back to ancient Roman times, with the heyday being in the early 20th century. The structure of a water tower includes a foundation, stem, tank, and pipes, typically made of wood, brick, concrete, or steel. Visit the PQ Water Tower to learn more about these fascinating structures and their role in water supply systems.

"If you live in the area; it’s fast and easy access to hiking on Black Mountain. (If you don’t live nearby, accessing Black Mountain from the west side is a better pick.) A paved service road runs from the end of the street to a water tank. A single track dirt trail running to the East Rim of Black Mountain diverges from the service road. This trail has no switchbacks, however, and is fairly steep with loose rocks. It’s not a lot of fun to traverse, but the views out into Poway and beyond are quite nice."
"I can see my house from here."
"Great view and trails."
