Reviews of Grey Squirrel Resort & Vacation Rental Homes
"My husband and I went for a quick getaway. The cottage was perfect just for the 2 of us. it was nice a cozy."
"Stayed here with my husband and in-laws over the weekend. All of their cabins are advertised as rustic, and rustic is an understatement. I’ve seen homeless shelters cleaner than this. Starting off with the cleanliness of the lodge, it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in months. The floors were so dirty you HAD to wear shoes the whole time (found that out the hard way.) Not to mention the splinters we got while walking around the cabin. The walls of the cabin are unfinished, uncovered dry wall can be seen in the bathroom, as well as plenty of spiderwebs, dust, and just all around dirt and grime. Additionally, the towel holder just fell right off upon drying hands the first time. There were other parts of the cabin that just were broken or didn’t work correctly. The upstairs section was clearly just an attic repurposed, as the stairs were so steep it was like just climbing a ladder. The second larger bedroom upstairs was a “queen bed” (actually just two twin beds pushed together with a mattress topper on them). You can probably already guess the back and neck pain that came with that. The kitchen had a lack of towels to dry dishes, a quarter scrub to clean dishes, no cups. Overall, this was nowhere near worth $200+ they’re charging. The location is decent, as it’s close to the main village and everything, but the entrance and parking were pretty bad. I would not recommend staying here if you’re looking for cleanliness and comfort."
"First time staying here it was so cute we got a king bed and a small little living room area just for me and my bf it was perfect i know the larger cabins have kitchens and more rooms so I can’t wait to come back and bring my family! The workers were all super nice and the property is also really beautiful there was lots of snow and they had a bbq grills everything worked great in our room the bed was soooo comfortable as well! I honestly don’t have anything bad to say about the property like the bathroom is a bit like not even so much but a tiny bit worn out but not something that messes with anything at all we both loved it here and we showed my family and they are also excited to come here next time!"
"The outside is beautiful and inviting the cabin is cozy but when it comes to cleanliness it was bad. The place was dusty and the floors were dirty. If planning to use the kitchen don’t recommend at all. The pots and pans are really bad. The fridge froze my food. The stove had lots of issues. Towels were old and had an ugly smell. BBQ was leaking and dirty. Overall the place is beautiful lacks of cleanliness. I would not recommend or stay in that place again. Sorry for the honesty. I never write reviews but this time I thought it was necessary. Work on the kitchen and cleaning please. It was disappointing. I’m"
"Just happenstance that my partner and I found the Grey Squirrel----we were the only guests midweek until the weekend. Heather was very friendly and directed to us to our cabin----we had a pet and she was very clear and friendly with expectations. I have read previous reviews and have to note that the cabins are advertised as "rustic" and indeed they are-----but really?---just a nice place to stay-----Set in a forest and very, very, very low key----Quiet at night and anything you want at the market just a short drive away----perfect for what we wanted. Yes, we found two spiders and a little dust in the corners but perfect for what we wanted----big deal, like staying at my half blind aunt's house----this is not a 5 star resort and they don't tell you that it is----its rustic-----drains are a little slow in the kitchen, toilet, the shower and the bath sink, not a big deal----minor and my house has the same issues off and on, so what?----kitchenette pans, silverware and an old stove with an old fridge-----everything works and it was fine------a bbq with propane is provided, as well an outdoor fireplace setting, as well as a gas fireplace and gas heater----we used it very little as it was warm inside regardless of winter coming on-----in our view, much better than a sterile condo or hotel with elevators and all matching carpet and wallpaper with soulless art. We LOVED IT------grounds were strewn with leaves (squirrels and chipmunks playing in the trees) and pine cones everywhere but patio lights up all night, created a very warm atmosphere especially with dog walks before bed-----got extra towels within minutes. Parking is directly outside each cabin and designated. I would definitely recommend----but only if you are not Louis Vuitton and Gucci type person and just olde school and want a nice time that is totally chill and can go with the flow-----I will definitely come back----I will say this----If you are a foodie and want to plan meals----bring your own pans and seasonings-----plates, utensils, cooking service as in spatulas, garlic press, colander etc----everything else is there as in stove and sink and fridge etc...The Grey Squirrel is a gem in the relentless encroachment of everything has to be "perfect.""
