"I love going here. It is such a beautiful, peaceful place with the best view in town. If you know someone who is buried here but not sure where they are you can go into the front office building and look them up by their name."
"We weren’t planning on going here but had a little extra time so drove down to Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, not really knowing what it would be like. I’m so glad we did go there. Amazing to see all of the head stones. I found this out afterward, but I have relatives that were buried at this cemetery. I would love to go back and spend more time."
"We dropped by after visiting Cabrillo National Monument. It was a few days after Memorial Day and we wanted to hone these military members. The view of San Diego Bay was spectacular."
"The drive here was so beautiful. As soon as we drove in it was so so peaceful. The office was open and that’s how we got our map. It was a beautiful sunny Memorial Day. When we did find my husband’s grandfather’s grave he couldn’t help but to break in tears. This cemetery is different from where our other loved ones are buried. Grass is well kept, waster for flowers are provided along with the flower holders. First time here and I didn’t want to leave. The ocean views and trees along the graveyard is just breathtaking. No dogs allowed!!"
"My husband had to do a memorial service for a family here. So I just had to come along so I could snap a few shots of the scenery (and then we could eat at Point Loma Seafood afterwards)! My Dad fought in WWII and the Korean War. A survivor of the Bataan Death March and Camp. He was a decorated Lt. Colonel in the Army. Always my hero. But he passed in 2020 at 100yo and there weren't any more spaces open for interment here. It would have been so meaningful. He used to take the family fishing down the hill at the Submarine Base when we were kids. It was pretty fun fishing right from the docks next to the submarines. Anyway, we were able to bury him and my Mom at the Miramar National Cemetery of which has a beauty of it's own. But, Rosecrans will always hold a special place in my heart with warm memories. There are so many foto ops here with the magnificent ocean on both sides of this property and the city scape in the distance. I wish I took more pics from better angles, but I had my hands full with our lil' pup Dolci. I just snapped shots steps away from the roadsides. I'll have to come back and enjoy it more. It's so easy to drive into the various sections with your car to enjoy the view or just sit in peaceful meditation. It's right on the way to Point Loma Lighthouse and it's worth the stop!"
