"I met Dr. Kim for the first time in February 2020. I had just learned, a couple of days before that I had cancer of the appendix, and that it was late stage and aggressive. I also learned that cancer of the appendix is rare and there were clinical trials and there were many unknowns. My first meeting with Dr. Kim was met with much anxiety. Dr. Kim was very much to the point. He made no false promises but he also exuded a confidence that let me know he was ready to do battle. In that first meeting, he presented is treatment plan, which included chemotherapy and a special type of surgery that was used to treat this type of cancer. He also help to ensure that I was mentally ready for battle. He was very thorough and made adjustments as treatment commenced based on information from test used for monitoring how I was responding to treatment. I had four rounds of chemotherapy before the Hipec surgery and four rounds after. He was there to explain the impact every step of the way. It’s now January 2021, which I honestly didn’t think I would be here to see when I was first diagnosed. Dr. Kim worked very hard to get me here. I am eternally grateful to him for his medical expertise and how hard he fought for me. As of November 2020, scans showed no signs of disease. I feel better than I have felt in a very long time.
