"I am very particular about the vet who will look after my precious pup. My dog has a persistent infection/allergy. Dr Tom spent so much time talking about her history, examining & discussing the options. The kindness he showed to me & my pup (who doesn’t like the vet at all) is so appreciated.. All the staff that helped me were helpful & cheerful. They followed up to see how she was going with the treatment we are trying. Highly recommend!!"
"I'm editing my review with more details as the response (not form the vet who probably doesn't know there's an issue) seems to minimize the issues. We have three dogs. We were happy with North Fork for about a year when we first moved to Auburn, except for some of the reception staff. Dr. Marrs was great; I met Dr. Sheriff but he never saw our dogs. One of our dogs had a malignancy that North Fork couldn't get to for 3 weeks, so we went to another hospital that removed it in 3 days. We stayed there for 3 years. We went back to North Fork specifically for our old dog to see Dr. Sheriff. Yes, he does explain everything well, and gives you a go home note that's very detailed. I believe that the staff is the issue. The doctor says "if you have any questions call me right away", & he means it. But ultimately messages are not delivered and there is no follow up. Our old dog was prescribed a new med to help with arthritis; he had terrible side effects. He very hard to wake up, then unable to stand, repeatedly falling. I called on Friday to report this, and a tech told me that Dr. Sheriff would call me on Monday, and I should stop the new medication. One day off the meds he was able to stand and walk around normally, but then had explosive watery diarrhea and refused to eat. Our other two dogs were fine, so it seemed like this was another side effect. I called Monday at 8AM & spoke to a man. I asked him to add this new issue to the message & explained my concern. I called again, at 10AM speaking to the same man, and said this very concerning to have neurological & then gastric issues. I was upset because I had been told on Friday that I would hear first thing on Monday. The response was "this is a crazy Monday" & "we're a very busy practice", & that he hadn't had a chance to speak to the doctor before his first appointment. But he had put a note on the doctor's desk. An hour later I still hadn't heard back so I called again at 11AM. I spoke to a woman who was very nice, she transferred me to the man I had originally spoken to. He told me "oh yeah, I spoke to the doctor, he said to give him Imodium, bland diet and probiotics". This time he was very pleasant. My dog actually ate his breakfast that morning and was anxious to play fetch, even though he he still had diarrhea. A few hours after the first dose of Imodium, he vomited his breakfast and the next stool was bloody. I called back again and asked to relay a message to the vet; this time I spoke to a woman. I said "I am concerned about the blood, and I think this might not be a reaction to the new meds, but something different." and she said "well, I don't know, I'm NOT a doctor" in a very rude tone. She went off and talked to the vet, who apparently said keep up the Imodium and my dog can come in tomorrow as a "drop off" and they'll get to him when they can. So, I have a 14 1/2 year old dog with bloody diarrhea who is also vomiting, has been experiencing neurological issues, and I have to drop him off to sit in a cage all day? I think the stress would make him feel even worse. I felt that neurological issues, vomit and bloody diarrhea would have meant that they could fit our dog in somehow, even with another vet. I was able to get my dog in to see the vet that I left, same day, and they're busy too. They were very compassionate and caring on the phone. I haven't received any phone calls or follow up to see how my dog is doing, yet they were able to immediately respond to my negative review. Like the responses to other negative reviews, they are very defensive and blame everything on the owners. For me: unrealistic expectations. What I expect is for the person who answers the phone to be courteous, and promises that are made are kept. Instead of being defensive, maybe pick up the phone and apologize and see if my dog is OK?"
"I love the fact that Dr. Sherrif will issue a "go home" note that is written with instructions and findings of my pet. He goes over all details as the health, challenges, and solutions in very long-hand form, and it is the most personalized communication with a Vet doctor I have ever had. They value all pets as family, their employees are the best, and the communication is very prompt for the most part after the appointment. Thank you so much. Dave McClain"
"This was our first visit to North Fork Vet Clinic and we were extremely impressed with it. Our 1 year 9 month dog, who we just adopted 2 weeks earlier, is very shy and timid. Dr. Jordan was so great with her. She was gentle, kind and compassionate. We are so grateful that we found Dr. Jordan and would highly recommend her to anyone."
"I was so nervous about bringing my dog Juno to the clinic for surgery. She was to be spayed and my dilemma was that she will not walk with a leash. She’s just stubborn. I had my grandson meet me at the clinic as he was going to carry her in for me. When I opened the car door she had pooped and was kind of a mess. The clinic gave us a towel so my grandson wrapped her in the towel and carried her in. I was a nervous wreck! Dr. Sheriff called me after her surgery and explained the procedure and said she tolerated the procedure well and I was told I could pick her up from the clinic after 4:30. A very helpful young man carried her to my car which was above and beyond! Unfortunately I never asked his name but so helpful throughout."
