"Doctor Hsu was my ob for 2 years. I booked appointment with her office reading the UCLA rising star super doctors reference. She helped me managed my abnormal bleeding between periods with medication(birth control). And finally did a mini-invasive surgery to remove few small polyp inside of my endometrium which caused bleeding occasionally and bothered me for almost 8 years. Even though it was not a serious issue but it was very painful for me to manage occasional irregular bleeding for years and I had to be on birth control on and off. My period was back to normal after the surgery and 2 years after the surgery I am expecting a baby in 2 months! Unfortunately I moved far away from the office so I have to switch OB to deliver my baby at Huntington hospital, but She was the best!"
"I LOVE doctor Hsu. These reviews are very confusing to me as she was one of my favorite doctors I have ever had. She was great at communicating with me via MyChart as well as always made sure all my questions were answered before the appt ended. She was also so friendly and I truly felt welcomed. I moved to LA from Chicago when I was 6 months pregnant and she over my care from then on."
"Dr. Hsu’s bedside manners were dismissive and the appointment lasted rather quickly feeling as though she had to rush to the next appointment. She did not take the time to answer questions."
"Dr. Hsu was my OB for my first pregnancy. She is a very competent doctor and provided excellent care during the challenges of COVID. Dr. Hsu was open and nonjudgmental when it came to our (many) birth preferences and respectfully gave us her guidance and advice on how to prepare for a successful birth. At UCLA, doctors work in the Labor and Delivery department on a rotational basis, rather than one’s assigned OB being the one to deliver - this is part of the package if one decides to give birth at UCLA. We were very lucky in that Dr. Hsu was the on call doctor when we went into labor and successful delivered our daughter. She also provided us great postpartum care."
"Dr. Hsu was my OB during my first pregnancy and I wish I would have had another doctor. I just didn’t know any better. Every appointment I had with her was under two minutes. She made me feel like she didn’t have time for me or any questions. She told me I was gaining way too much weight and her only advice was to not eat any more fruit. Which is a joke. When it became time for me to deliver, I was told I had to be induced at 37 weeks due to complications. She told me she probably wouldn’t be the one to deliver my baby since the doctors at UCLA SM rotate every 24 hours. I told her that was okay as long as a female doctor was the one who delivered my baby. I was not comfortable having a man I have never met before doing the exams and delivery. After checking the schedule, she told me that there WAS going to a male doctor on call the day I would most likely be having my baby. I voiced my concerns again, and Instead of helping, she guilted me into feeling bad for NOT wanting him. She told me he has a family and I just shouldn’t be worried about it. She said a male OB is pretty much the same thing as a female Urologist, like that was somehow supposed to make me feel better...? But it wasn’t even about that. Some people have experienced trauma and are just not comfortable around males in general. Especially for something as intimate to me as delivering my child. I would never sign up to see a male OB, and I wish she would’ve shown a sliver of compassion. She then told me I could change my induction date, but I would be risking my babies life. So obviously I felt as if I had no choice. Lo and behold, a male doctor ended up checking my cervix multiple times and eventually delivering my baby. Although the Dr. who delivered my baby did a good job & I am grateful my baby girl was born healthy, I can’t shake this feeling of sickness every time I think back to my delivery. And that is a terrible thing to associate with having your first baby. After I delivered my baby, I went to see Dr. Hsu eight weeks after. I was experiencing postpartum depression heavily at this point. I failed the postpartum depression test terribly, and she couldn’t have cared less. She told me a therapist from UCLA would call me in a few weeks as soon as their schedules weren’t so busy. The results of the test clearly showed I needed help that day. I never got a call from a UCLA therapist. It’s been a few months now. She never called again to ask if I was doing okay, and I have since then never returned to her office."
