"LoVe Love LOVE Dr. Good we in!!! He has been my gyne since 1994 when he handled my last pregnancy. Any question I had he would answer and explained things to me as if he were feeling them as well. I trust his honesty when it comes to my care."
"I had a terrible experience with Dr. Shelley Goodwein trying to have my IUD replaced. First, I had to do a consult in person at his office. I asked if this could have been done via telemedicine or over the phone and was told no. So i went into the office. When I got there, I waited 45 minutes for him to arrive. When he finally did, rather than being apologetic about the wait or thanking me for being patient, he basically said "this is just how it is" . The consultation turned out to simply be a brief conversation confirming i wanted my IUD replaced and telling me to make an appointment in a week for the actual procedure. No exam, no reason it couldn't have been handled remotely. When I returned a week later for the procedure itself, things got even worse as he and the attending nurse fumbled around for the necessary equipped, with her leaving the room once to go get something while i was on the table, feet in stirrups, totally exposed to the waiting room across the hall. He made two attempts to sound me, and two attempts to place the IUD. All with my cervix clamped open, very painful. When he finally placed the IUD, the pain continued, and he decided to do an ultrasound to make sure he hadn't punctured my uterus. They had the presence of mind to close the waiting room door before I had to shuffle down the hall wrapped just in the paper sheet. The ultrasound revealed that the IUD was mispositioned, which he blamed on the shape of my uterus. He said he would have to remove it, and i would have to come back again "when you're bleeding," meaning when I'm on my period. And he added that i should take a midol first too, so I'll be "prepared for the pain next time." When I asked what i should do about birth control in the meantime, he said "just use condoms." Then he handed me a pad and left the room. My clothes were still in the exam room, so once again I had to walk down the hall trying to cover myself with the paper sheet, with blood now dripping down my legs. And in the meantime, someone had opened the waiting room door again, so I was on full display for the people seated there. They looked surprised to see me. Once in the exam room, I dressed and did my best to wipe up the blood on my legs and some that had dripped onto the floor with the paper sheet. I have continued to bleed heavily for 9 straight days. I will not be returning to Dr. Goodwein, because of the inconsiderate, disrespectful, incompetent and dismissive way I was treated. I had a phone consult with Planned Parenthood which was the opposite: compassionate, concerned and reassuring - the way any person should be treated when seeking care for their reproductive health. The contrast in treatment just made me feel all the angrier about the experience I had at Dr. Goodwin's office. Avoid this guy, ladies."
