USC Los Angeles Institute for the Humanities

The USC Los Angeles Institute for the Humanities, located at 3550 Trousdale Parkway in Los Angeles, California, was established in 1998 as an intellectual hub for the city. Bringing together a diverse group of academics, authors, historians, artists, and more, the Institute aims to stimulate cross-disciplinary exchanges of ideas. With a membership that reflects a mix of backgrounds and perspectives, the Institute hosts twice-monthly lunches and other events to discuss social, scientific, and cultural issues of the day. Dr. Leo Braudy, a renowned film critic, and Louise Steinman, a writer and curator, are among the notable figures associated with the Institute. The Institute strives to be international, urban, and inclusive in its approach, integrating intellectual life with the active civic life of Los Angeles. Sponsored by the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences at USC, the Institute is dedicated to fostering a vibrant intellectual community in Southern California.
