Toyota InfoTech Labs

Toyota InfoTech Labs, located in Mountain View, California, is a research institution focused on utilizing cutting-edge information technologies to create innovative mobility solutions for future societal challenges. With a strong emphasis on personalization and connected end-to-end solutions, ITL aims to improve the overall mobility experience for individuals while exploring changes in societal needs and behaviors. As a part of Toyota Motor North America R&D, ITL leverages resources from vehicles, infrastructure, and emerging technologies to provide tangible benefits to the public.

Led by Vice President Kenichi “Kent” Murata, ITL spearheads society-oriented innovations through cross-functional collaboration. The institution's Core Connected Technologies (CCT) Group, under the direction of John Kenney, conducts research on vehicular communication and cybersecurity to support connected mobility. Additionally, the Intelligent Connected Systems (ICS) Group, also led by Kenney, focuses on researching Toyota's next-generation mobility services and connected vehicle platform.

Director Kentaro Oguchi oversees the Advanced Development & Planning Group, which creates intelligent connected vehicle architecture using AI technologies to provide real-time services for smoother traffic flow and efficient navigation. Chief Architect Alex Pham leads the Infrastructure & Data Platform Solutions Group, which designs and builds reliable global infrastructure and data platforms to support Toyota's connected car and mobility society vision.

ITL has received numerous awards for its research, including Best Poster and Best Paper Awards at various conferences and symposiums. The institution has also been recognized for its innovative approach to mobility solutions, such as piloting new concepts in retail for underutilized urban property.
