Bamboo Reef Scuba Diving Centers

"Two Stars is because of their staff being friendly for sales, and having a pool that you can test gear in. If I was writing this for their repairs, it would be 1. I brought in equipment to be serviced, diagnosed, and repaired. I specifically asked them to check my computer as it had been giving me strange depth readings on my last dive. Additionally, my reg was hemorrhaging air and needed to be adjusted. They took my money, I dropped off my gear, and they sent me on my way. When I picked it up a few weeks later, I asked again: making sure they looked at my computer and reg and the issues were fixed. They said "yep!" everything looks good! Well fast forward a couple of weeks, my partner bought a new BC through them and was going to test it in the pool. Having suspicion (I thought there was something seriously wrong with my computer), I asked my partner to dive with my reg kit and computer. Sure enough, my reg was leaking like a sieve, my computer was giving wildly inaccurate depths, and it looked like nothing at all had been done. After talking with the shop it became really clear what happened. They took my gear, did the bare minimum servicing of changing some gaskets, and then returned it to me. Not listening to me at all about the problems. If I had taken this gear diving, it could have killed me and from the lack of seriousness this shop took my complaints, they could kill you too. They offered to give me a discount on a new computer, but I wouldn't give this shop a dime. I hope they read this and make some internal changes, because as I promised, I am telling every diver, every shop, and anyone that will listen to me, not to trust the work of Bamboo Reef. If they work on your gear, verify they did anything at all. They DO NOT have sufficient quality control of their service staff."

"Told me that I would be able to do in-person classes via SSI and finalize via PADI check-out dives while on vacation. Ultimately, the dive centers using PADI were not able to do this, and while Bamboo Reef refunded me the portion that would be paid for their class, I still was unable to get a refund from SSI for the assurance that Bamboo Reef made on their classes. Don't trust everything they say about the certification process. Appreciate the refund from their class (which I never was able to start) but wish there had been an apology for promising something that was never possible. No contrition or apology given."

"Bamboo Reef is the real deal! They take their training/classes very seriously and always prioritize safety of their students. Their instructors are knowledgeable, attentive, accommodating, patient, and positive. I did the open water class (SF pool with Lexi and Monterey ocean dives with Kai) and although I’m not a strong swimmer, both made me feel safe and confident in the water. I had brought up a concern during the pool dives and they understood and made adjustments immediately. Will definitely be recommending to friends and family."

"Did my open water pool session here and went down to Monterey for the ocean portion. I've had some issues with my diving education but a big shout out to Lexi for helping me get where I am today. They work around your schedule and ensure you're getting the right training( the sea is no joke) to prepare you for everything/anything. The rest of the staff (Shout out to Devin and Katie)in the store are just great, friendly, honest and lovely people who are always willing to hello, advice and give you feedback. It's always nice to drop by and learn something new or just drop by and have a chat about diving in genetal. I couldn't recommend a more welcoming place to learn to dive or just be in a place where you feel supported by the community there. I wish I could rate more than 5 stars. Amazing place."
