"Great place to live! Amazing location! Kind neighbors, dog friendly! The management staff are really nice and helpful. I felt so blessed and grateful to have a beautiful home in downtown Milwaukee and never felt unsafe. Thank you Edgewater re property management and city of Milwaukee for all the love and kindness that was shown in my time living there."
"Lived here last year and I couldn't be happier with my first apartment experience in Milwaukee. The only issues with the place were the elevators that would occasionally go out, but only forced me to take the stairs one time in 9 months. Most of the time, they were fixed within less than a day, and responding to the other reviews, the building cannot simply change out the elevators whenever something goes wrong. This place is probably the best bang for your buck if you're looking for a place downtown. My roommates and I opted for the river view, which you can't beat, and the overall size of the unit would run you close to 2200 anywhere else in the city. I briefly dealt with Roy when I moved in, but the management changed and George is the new landlord! He is probably one of the coolest guys you'll meet and he never hesitated to take time out of his day to answer any of my questions. He worked with me to get out of my lease early (job change) and he even let my parents use his parking spot over the weekend when they came to visit :) Overall, you definitely get more than what you probably pay for, given the location and the size of the unit. This would be my #1 recommendation to anyone looking to live in the heart of downtown that's on a budget and loves the character of older buildings."
"I lived here for about 2 years with roommates. It was really nice when we moved in (~2015), and the place had just been taken over by new management. We were assured the previous issues (broken front locks, broken elevators, broken AC, hobos camping in the entry, etc) would not be a problem any longer, and we were willing to give it a shot. The apartment itself was pretty decent at first- that exposed brick was amazing! However, the AC barely worked on the top floor, so it was almost always pretty warm. The toilet and tub backed up constantly, The lightbulbs blew out in the kitchen and living area pretty soon after we moved in, and we were told it was 45$ PER BULB to replace them- we did this twice, and when they blew out again, we lived with lamps we plugged in (we were later told that this was a mistake, that it was 45$ for the time it took to install, plus 13$ per bulb, but we were never compensated for being so grossly overcharged the first time). The elevators were constantly down, or would get stuck, or had trash/urine all over the floor. The laundry machines would eat quarters or fail to dry randomly. Both front doors were supposed to lock after 10PM; however, one was broken before we even moved in. The walls between apartments were crazy thin, so I was able to hear everything my neighbors were yelling at each other about. The floors seemed pretty thin as well- we couldn't really watch TV or do much moving after about 10PM without our downstairs neighbor banging on the ceiling. I moved out before my roommates did, but by they time they left, both elevators had been down for months, the AC was totally busted and their cat almost died, and the ceiling was literally caving in the hallway."
"The apartments themselves are gorgeous! The location is also unbeatable. HOWEVER. Management is awful. Repairs take absolutely forever to be acknowledged, and the elevator has gone out over 5 times in the 6 months we’ve lived here. The elevator was out for the entire month of December, and signs were posted everywhere saying we’d all be compensated for the inconvenience. It’s now nearing the beginning of June and no one has heard word of being compensated yet. The elevator has gone out several times since then as well (but only for a few days at a time). Most of the residents don’t feel safe using the elevator anymore and people are scared. It’s hard not to use it the elevator though when you have to climb 9 flights of stairs to get to the 4th floor... (15 foot ceilings are cool and all, but they make for a long hike up the stairwell!) I’ve called and complained about it taking 6 months to be compensated 4 times over the last month and never once got a call back. My boyfriend went to the office to complain in person and he was rudely rushed out because “they were busy”. This is completely unacceptable and I’d advise looking elsewhere for a cool downtown loft. Based on the reviews posted before mine, it seems things have been this way long before I lived here."
"Do not listen to all of the reviews. I live in the 125 building, which is next to the main office and not connected, so I don't know what happens in the main building. This review is for the 125 building: The management staff is absolutely amazing; helpful, informative and cater to your needs. They checked my heater to ensure everything is properly work the same day I called. Even increased the overall heat output. They inform (paper taped on elevator) you when a problem will be fixed and give you notices on when something will be occurring (alarms, inspections, etc). The elevator does break down, on average, once a month for a day. You can manage walking up 6 flight of stairs, exercise is good for you. Parts breaking down has nothing to do with the management, blame the owners for being cheap. Overall, a great place to stay. I would recommended it."
