"Bathrooms are in desperate need of renovation, carpets are a bit threadbare, beds and finishings are ok, but the character is amazing in this almost 100 year old hotel. Elevators and common areas need a deep cleaning but the service is excellent. The Miller Pub is overpriced bar food with mediocre service but the steakhouse is excellent. The house dogs are adorable!"

"Extremely disappointed with the accessibility room we had. Not much was accessible. There was no way to bath because the safety bars were barely there and not placed correctly. The mirror was too high. It was funny that the makeup mirror was as high as it was - no use at all. Don’t choose this hotel if you need an accessible accommodation."

"If you’re ever going to Milwaukee for a vacation, this hotel is definitely worth staying at. Its location is excellent, and it’s only a short walking distance away from the convention center and the Milwaukee Public Museum. It’s also not too far away from the lakeshore, the art museum, and the revitalized riverwalk district. The floors closer to the top of the building provide breathtaking views of the city, especially the rooms facing toward the direction of Lake Michigan. The view is even more spectacular with the city streets and skyscrapers lit up at night. Definitely a sight worth seeing. The hotel lobby is lavishly decorated with sparkling chandeliers and unique ceiling and wall designs, of which were common during the age of art-deco architecture. One floor below the lobby, there are several restaurants, including a breakfast place and a steakhouse. The experience at this hotel is overall a blast. The only downside is that there was no room service that would bring food to the hotel room when I was staying here, but I didn’t let that one inconvenience ruin my experience. This historic hotel is amazing, and so is the city of Milwaukee. Again, I highly recommend staying at this place for the best possible hotel experience during a trip in Milwaukee."

"Beautiful room and views. Clean and luxurious. Close to Miller Time Theater. Walkable. Monarch Bar was absolutely stunning. Chop House for steaks and Miller Pub in same building. The room doesn't show well in my photos, but it was beautiful."

"Incredible curb appeal. The common areas and lobby are stunningly beautiful. The hotel is dated but given that it is more than 100 years old it is expected. Staff is wonderful and friendly. I know that some of the reviews criticize the cleanliness and elevators but my room was very clean and the elevators worked just fine with very little wait (I spent 6 nights in the hotel and never waited for an elevator). My room had a HUGE adult-sized porcelain tub which was very nice. But, there is one thing to keep in mind before booking. Being a older hotel, they are on a two-pipe system for the first 18 floors. What that means is that if they are on the cooling system, there is no way to warm up your room and if they are on the warming system, there is no way to cool your room. The first 4 nights I was there my room was uncomfortably hot and once they switched to the cooling system the last 2 nights were comfortable. The upper floors/premium rooms have independent climate control. When you book your room, make sure you can control the temperature if that is important to you. Otherwise, this is a great place to stay. Be sure to pet the puppies in the lobby."
