"Wildlands Studies is an international field school provider that earns students academic credit while exploring concepts in environmental studies, biology, wildlife management and cultural anthropology. I signed up for the New Zealand program as an Environmental Studies student at Northern Arizona University. I earned 10 semester credits (equivalent to 15 quarter credits) over the course of six weeks. Some of the activities included: backpacking with local conservation experts, learning about stream ecology and eDNA at the Cawthron Institute and canoeing down the Whanganui River with a Maori family as they told us about their connection to the land. It's an experiential layer that added depth and meaning to my degree. I would recommend it to anyone who is outdoorsy and passionate about the environment."
