"I am sad, heart broken, and frankly disappointed about the treatment that I have received from this medical practice as a whole. I had heard so many good things about the care given here by my white counterparts. So, naturally, I believed I would receive the same care and compassion. Unfortunately, this is not the case. I have tried to transfer care to this clinic twice (2018 and 2021) for prenatal care. Both times I was denied care. What I can't figure out is the "why". My only request is that the doctor who takes me on will " try" a natural birth. I've spoken with a worker named Pam and a supervisor named Cindy. Cindy stated that my request would place undue stress on the doctor assigned to my care. Neither could give me a real explanation as to why there are six providers at the clinic and none will manage my prenatal care for either pregnancies. I'm a healthy, African American woman who is physically active and have had previously uncomplicated pregnancies. I'm seen regularly by a physician. I speak articulately. So, I know that my requests are clearly understood by the listener. However, I'm being denied care. I believe that everyone should be afforded quality health care. It shouldn't matter what sexual orientation you are, your marital status, your economic status, your familial status, your ethnicity or ancestry, your religion, and certainly not your race. In my opinion, It's apparent that the staff and doctors at Ascension's Meadowview Obstetrics and Gynecology practice no longer believe in the Hippocratic oath. In my opinion, if you believe that all lives matter (including black and LGBTQ), then this is definitely not the practice that you should give business to or refer friends and family to."
"Dr. Stumpf has delivered 3 of my babies, and has been my provider for baby number 4 (currently 16 weeks). He also helped me through secondary infertility so we could have baby number four. I have also seen his associate doctors on occasion and have had a wonderful experience with them as well."
"Week 6 of 1st pregnancy. Haven't been to 1st OBGYN yet (scheduled Dec. 17th) and my Triage Nurse today, Jody, has been absolutely amazing, supportive, and calm while dealing with my extreme constipation, and then making a mistake that lead to her going above and beyond, calling the DR. to see best course of action. I absolutely plan on bringing her flowers to my 1st appt!!! Thanks Jody, if you see this (:"
"I arrived for my appointment with the Meadowview OB/GYN Suite 118, Jan 11, 15 minuets early to check in. After check-in, as I was sitting in the waiting area, I could hear that another patient's appointment was pushed back by 40 mins as a doctor was delivering a baby. That patient was not able to stay and rescheduled. Another patient was called from the waiting area and was seen. At this point I had been waiting for 1 hour, without anyone telling me what was going on. Another woman checked-in and was seen immediately. At that point, I asked why I was not being seen since I had been waiting an hour for my appointment, and the other woman just arrived. Only at this point did the receptionist inform me that the doctor was delivering a baby and that the other doctor who was back-filling him was only seeing pregnant patients. She asked me at this point, after an hour wait with no information, if I would reschedule. I told her that I would not as I will be finding another care provider. First, if a doctor cannot take his or her clients, the clients should be informed so that they don't need to leave their jobs to come in for naught. I am disappointed by the inconsideration of the administration team, or perhaps the doctors advising them that it is OK to keep 'customers', knowing they likely will not be seen, just in case they can make some money on the off chance. Also, the assumption that I may have been informed from the receptionist telling the other patient that she would be delayed is inappropriate. Just because her case had been discussed loudly, I did not know if he doctor was the same as mine, and assumed if my appointment had been impacted, I would be informed separately. Furthermore, the prioritization of pregnant women seems unfair. I had been waiting for a month for that appointment and have been in pain for quite some time. The woman who was accepted over me barely looked pregnant at all, if a prioritization needs to happen, perhaps they should use different methods, such as severity of the reason the patient is being seen....just because someone is pregnant does not mean they are in more urgent need of care than a non-pregnant woman."
