Rochester Marriott Mayo Clinic Area

"Fraud on large scale. This Marriott turns off the air conditioning for all outside units in the winter. But the windows are sealed shut. So on warm nights these rooms get stifling. They do not tell you this when you check in. And when you complain pretend there is a mechanical problem. They call maintenance. I happened to be there when maintenance arrived and he explained that he could not fix it because the system was turned off. The windows were sealed because one had fallen out a few years ago. I had had a similar problem when I stayed last year but everyone pretended it was a mechanical problem and moved me to an inside room where the air conditioning works. This time I endured the heat for two nights and went and complained. After the maintenance man explained the scam I went and complained to the same manager who had lied to me last year. I demand credit for the two nights. He told me that since I didn't complain the first night, he would not give credit. I told him that they were committing fraud and demand my money back. He refused. I confronted the lady at the counter about her participation in this fraud and she said that she was an employee and had to do as told. I am a Mayo patient. The nights of exceds heat added do my discomfort from surgery. This injury to me was not great but does set the stage for intentional damages and punitive damages. This is fraud on a large scale that has continued at least 2 years. I stand ready to testify. I am worried that the maintenance man who told the truth may suffer consequences. I demand refund for the nights stayed this year as well as the 3 nights stayed last year."

"Dave, the 8th Floor Concierge, is terrific. He creates a delicious and healthy breakfast every morning. In addition to a delicious meal to start the day, Dave also personally circulates among the guests to get to know them and to provide a friendly and personalized approach to service. The lounge is clean and well-organized. Dave is a dream come true. I think this, and I know others who frequent the 8th floor for concierge services, think the same. He is a gem."

"Generally, a standard Marriott experience in downtown Rochester. You have all the amenities you need of a Bonvoy property within a block from Mayo Clinic. My only real gripe with the hotel is that the room faces another hotel across the street where people are easily looking into your room and so your shades need to be drawn at all times, depending on the side of the hotel you may end up staying on. Otherwise, a fine hotel experience."

"I’ve stayed here four different times in the past 6 months. I would love to give it 5 stars ⭐️, but help is definitely needed with housekeeping!! Also, three of the four visits the wheelchair elevator used to go to the walkways is broken. I have to carry my daughter down the 16 stairs, and then haul the wheelchair separate. Both leaving, and coming back!"

"I have stayed at this specific Marriott many times in the last few years, due to being a regular patient at Mayo Clinic. I’ve seen the hotel have lots of ups and downs over those years, but I am pleased to say that my most recent stay (September of 2023) was very delightful! Hotel was managed very well, staff was professional and sweet, new security practices were put in place, everything was clean, and the atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming! This is by far the best place to stay if you’re looking for easy access to Mayo Clinic and a comfortable nights sleep!"
