Holiday Inn Express & Suites Rochester – Mayo Clinic Area, an IHG Hotel

"Requested handicapped bathroom with bars instead I got hearing impaired room with no safety bars. Left 1 night into a 4 night stay, unsafe for me. Hotel is close to Mayo but right touching the highway. Noisey!"

"Unbearable noise. This was all WITH earplugs in! First night, I had trouble sleeping from the traffic noise, it's right next to freeway and you hear traffic all night. The next 2 nights, several rooms on different floors, the lobby, pool, etc were flooded with screaming, loud kids. Couldn't escape it. They were running all over the hotel (stairwell, elevator, hallways). My room was on the top floor on the end and the room BELOW me had constant thumping, doors slamming, hollering, etc. It was awful and I got little sleep both nights. If I would have known they were going to be there for 2 nights, I would have left after the first. Several noise complaints from numerous guests. All I could think was where are the adults and why aren't they doing anything. But I did see several of them in the lobby, ignoring the issue one sprawled out with her drink, feet on the furniture. Aside from the noise, the hotel is run down. Housekeeping didn't refill coffee 1st day, next day they failed to show up at all. No blow dryer. The tub was a serious safety hazard! Very slippery and no anti-slip traction/grab bars. Breakfast, meh. Typical IHG. I opted to buy food from local places. Small pool, no hot tub that I saw. There is 1 very slow, rickety elevator that sounds like it's breaking. I did appreciate the front desk staff friendliness and attempts to accommodate. Will not return."

"**BED BUGS*** Absolutely disgusting!!! I checked into my room and went to sit on the bed. I flipped the top comforter over and noticed "blood" stains on both beds in the room. I also noticed black "dirt" all over the sheets. I went to the front desk and asked for another room. They apologized and didn't say anything when I showed them the photos of the room. The next room.. I do not know what nasty slimy thing was on the ceiling and the curtains were stained. The room just felt disgusting. The bath tub had something black in it. Along with hair in the bed sheets and that "dirt" on the sheets again. I am so thankful I did not bring my bags in!! A quick Google search and that "dirt" is BED BUG droppings. It was everywhere in the beding and under the pillows. I was so grossed out. I returned back to the lobby and the women didn't even comment on what was found. Thankfully my husband quickly got me a clean room at the EVEN hotel down the road. Spend the extra money. I was shocked this hotel had such good reviews!!!!"

"Front desk personnel are nice and helpful. Rooms are older but nice and have HANDICAP Assist showers, perfect for Mayo Clinic patients needing such. Beds are comfortable. Complimentary breakfast is good. Room service forgets to clean room on multiple night stays."
