"My father served as a Torpedoman on the USS Kitkun Bay and often told me about the Battle of Leyte Gulf. A few years ago I was visiting family in Southern California when I stumbled upon this memorial...I stopped, made sure my children paid attention, and cried a bit. I am really surprised this story is not more well known. However, this is a special place for me and I will stop by and pay a visit, and my respects, whenever I happen to be in this beautiful part of the world."
"Felt so happy when i visited the place. Good weather and love the semi busy city ambiance. Met some lovely people, friendly and approachable Americans. I love the place so much. I've had a few drinks and watch some sports at the bar with delicious foods. Saw the Aircraft Carrier Museum as well but didn't get the chance to check what's inside due to limited time. All i can say is, i love San Diego!!!"
"Commemorating the "Tin Can Sailors" who defeated a vastly superior Japanese force and preserved a decisive U.S. victory at the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Also don't miss the United States Navy Leyte Gulf Memorial at Rosecrans National Cemetery on Point Loma."
"The memorial has nice historical information and is easy to read. It's right next to the USS Midway museum and located in a nice park with good views. The Last Stand of the Tin Can sailors is a great read if you'd like to know more about the background of the ships, people, and events "behind" the memorial."
"I loved this place. Great views with great history"
