"We booked a pontoon through the Inn for our combined bachelor/bachelorette party. We booked a 17 seater because we had at least 12 people attending. When the day arrived, we had one person running late so I called ahead of our scheduled time to let them know we were running late. They said that’s just fine, it happens all the time. Upon arrival the clerk let me know that they gave away our 17 seater to somebody else and that their other big one was out of commission due to it needing oil. So they told us we would have to squish onto an 8 seater with the 11 of us that showed up. My fiancé went in to ask for a refund since we paid for the bigger boat and the clerk was rude and tried to blame it on us being late. Although when I called to inform her of our late arrival, she mentioned nothing of them giving away our boat. We wouldn’t have drove alllll that way out there with multiple vehicles if we knew they would do that. Regardless we tried to make due with what we had and got on the boat. Needless to say the boat was sinking in the back when we got on. After we realized there was a bigger boat parked next to us we asked if we could get on that instead. They said no because they had people coming to use it. Odd seeing as they gave ours away even though we booked and paid ahead of time. We decided to stay on the 8 seater and try anyways. The boat launcher told us he wasn’t legally allowed to send us off with more than 9 people so he would launch us and then we could pick up 2 more people after he looked away. Wouldn’t ya know it, when they tried to start up the boat it wouldn’t, the motor wouldn’t even lower into the water. We got off and made other plans, they gave us a refund that returned to our back account almost immediately. It was just extremely unfortunate with the way they handled business and how they didn’t have these things planned out or taken care of ahead of time. Just seems like there is no structure with the pontoon rental portion of the business. It wasn’t the end of the world, we ended up having 100x more fun at Wisconsin point than we would’ve ever had squished onto a tiny pontoon with no walking room lol. Just sharing my experience and giving a warning to be aware of these things upon booking."
"Anyone who hasn't given this place a 5-star is clearly a tourist. If you live in Solon Springs and have family visiting 5-stars is not enough. Instead of sharing my bed with my cousin, they go to the inn. My mom and her brother fighting again? Who cares, he's staying at the inn! As a kid in my teens, the inn was an oasis of pleasure. All winter long that pool was hot. They sold season passes and my friends from high school would hang out at the pool and get looks from the old lady who ran the bar. Crash a snowmobile on the lake and guess what light you can see? The inn! But that old lady behind the bar wouldn't let me use the phone to call for help. Yes this was 1995 when it happened, but I'm still bitter she made me use the pay phone. (For you young kids that's a phone you put money into to make it work.) I got snowed in at the inn and got to swim in the pool two days in a row! One time our heater went out in the middle of the winter and we got to stay at the inn. When I read my favorite fantasy books by Robert Jordan or Brandon Sanderson, and they describe an inn, it's this place that I picture in my imagination. And if in those books there is a mean old inn keeper giving stink eye. I remember that lady yelling at me and my buddy Eric for enjoying too much swimming. God bless you St. Croix Inn, you are a treasure of memories."
"We had a VERY pleasant stay at the Inn. The room was very clean and it was so nice to walk into a very cooled off room at the humid end of June. The staff were all very friendly and the view of the river side was very nice. The continental breakfast was nice for my picky children and the ability to order food in the evening was delightful. I would absolutely recommend this Inn to those needing a place to stay in the area."
"One lady at the front desk was very crabby most of our stay. Rude to customers. The place was nice and clean but very dated. Needs some repairs. We got some awesome views of the northern lights and a great view of the fog coming off the lake in the morning."
"This place is absolutely gorgeous, the inside of the building is very rustic and cozy. Not to mention the lounge is pretty cool, with a wonderful view of the lake, if you are concerned about not getting a lake view with your room, don't worry. You can just easily walk around the back of the building and enjoy a beautiful, sunset, or sunrise with that special somebody. The only complaint I have is the microwave we got in our room, it's hard to open and feels cheap, although I feel at that point it's really a nit pick. Overall, if you want to enjoy nature with some good internet connection this is the spot."
